About Birding Blog

To start with I'm a rubbish birder, I don't list enough and I never count the very common birds I see, and as we all know the very common can become the very scarce in a short space of time"
I have been interested in wildlife especially birds for 35 years. In the last 20 years birds have been my passion, especially birds and birding sites in Yorkshire.
I consider my patch to be anywhere in the Yorkshire, North Lincolnshire area. My favourite places being, Bank Island, Wheldrake, Alkborough Flats, Spurn Point, North Cave Wetlands and the many other sites around the Humber.
I also love Teesside, Seaton, Saltholme and many of the open wild sites in between.
The more you go birding the more you realise you definitely don’t need a “site” birds are everywhere and can turn up anywhere, however where the effort to attract birds has been made, the site can become a Mecca for certain species like the excellent Derwent Valley in North Yorkshire.
