Richland One Hosts STEM Showcase at Heyward CTC

Published 2023-06-12
Richland One middle and high school students presented STEM-related projects to the community during the Secondary Education STEM Showcase on Wednesday, February 1st at Heyward Career and Technology Center. This marks the sixth year for the event, which is coordinated by the district’s Office of Secondary Education and Career and Technical Education Department.

The students’ projects were submitted by schools based upon the school level science fair results and staff recommendations. A panel of judges from the district determined the winners by grade level in middle school and by discipline focus in high school. The winners received certificates, and a swag bag with STEM-related items.

Projects were either individual student projects, small group projects, or class collaborative projects.

In addition, students and teachers were able to learn more about STEM-related careers through community partners such as Prisma Health Richland, Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
