#GivingTuesday 2015 – The Power of Giving

Two student veterans, who received holiday cards during their time of active duty overseas, speak about the power of receiving words of encouragement from back home and the importance of the University’s #GivingTuesday efforts.

The University displayed its commitment to ‘giving back’ during this year’s #GivingTuesday initiative by encouraging the 49er community to take time out of its busy holiday schedules to write a personal holiday card to a soldier. The cards will be delivered to North Carolina National Guard troops deployed in Bosnia.

In addition to writing holiday cards, the 49er community raised $2,800 to purchase smart pens that help to create an ideal learning environment for UNC Charlotte student veterans.

#GivingTuesday is an effort to harness the collective power of our campus community – to transform how individuals think about, talk about and participate in the giving season.
