The bomber gunship was the wolf in sheep's clothing of the WW2 air battle. These gunships would appear to be a normal bomber from a distance but were, in fact, bristling with additional weapons and armor that made them an extremely dangerous plane.

These gunships would be tasked with defending the bomber formation and swatting away attacking German fighters.
