Day 2.
"Damn, I can't believe I'm saying this, but you did well Mukuro." Junko leans back in her chair as I back up from the newly barricaded door. She kicks her legs up onto the desk. "Now do the window."
Reluctantly, I head over to the window. I'm exhausted. But something jolts me awake- someone banging on the window.
"AH! Mukuro who is that? Don't let him in!" Junko remains seated while screaming.
For once, I don't listen. I open the window, let the guy in, and shot the zombie that was chasing him.
"Mukuro I said DON'T! Gah, you're so incompetent. Who even is this guy?"
The guy brushes himself off. He's got green hair and few supplies, the most striking of which being the mace he was holding.
“Okay, Rude, first of all,” He says to Junko, “Second. Thank you for saving me.” He turns to me. “Normally I could handle them, but this one was weird.”
Junko tilts her head like a confused dog. “Different? Looked pretty much like a zombie to me. Dead. Not alive.”
“It was faster.”
“Jeez, this apocalypse stuff is so boring and confusing. Why don’t you go out and get bit or something, Muk?” Junko pokes me, then shakes her hand off as if she touched something gross. “What’s your name anyway?” She turns to the guy.
“Rantaro Amami.”
“That’s boring. I’ll call you avocado. I’m the incredible Junko Enoshima, fashion star, and this is Mukuro.”
“Mukuro Ikusaba.” I add. This always happens when we meet people.
“I know you, Enoshima. As you said, you’re famous.” He attempts to shake her hand, but she pretends to not see him.
“Nice to meet you, Amami.” I shake his hand.
“Nice to meet you too, Ikusaba. But you can call me Rantaro.”
“You can call me Mukuro.”
Rantaro throws his bag off his shoulder and pulls somthing out of it. It’s a composition book. Hope’s peak branded, to be exact. The same one we use for all of our classes.
“So you’re from hopes peak? Never seen you around.” I bring up. Now, I need something else to think about to distract me from whats going on.
“Yep! 79th class. You must be an upper classman?”
“Yeah. 78th.”
Junko fakes a gag. “Will you two lovebirds-” Rantaro and I exchange confused glances as she says that, “-Shut up? Anyway Avocado, how’s your math homework gonna help us here? Are you gonna use polynomials to get rid of the zombies?”
“Not homework, exactly. Well, not anymore.” He flips through the pages of math until he finds one. A different one, with drawings and paragraphs. “This is all the information I’ve gathered on them.”
Junko taps the page. “Three long paragraphs? In two days?”
“I’m from around where it began. Very highly populated.” He points to the drawing. “Zombies are creatures that seemed to pop up out of no where. They spread by attacking and biting people.”
She rolls her eyes. “Well duh. Even Muk could have gathered that much.”
“There’s more,” he says as he directs our attention to the head. “They’re seemingly invincible, but this is their weak spot. Get the brain, take it down. It also spreads faster if you have a less developed brain or other issues- or so I think. Seen a lot of kids and grandmas go down.”
“So teenagers and young adults are the strongest against it?”
“Correct, Mukuro. Since I havent seen it happen, I don’t know if its posible to survive it. My hypothesis is if you remove the bitten area, you could be fine. If you do it quick enough. Seems to spread like poison.”
Junko snorts and smirks. “Someone seems proud of their madman ramblings. Let me guess, you were a prepper? Ugh, of course you were. You have that vibe.”
“I was.” He seems a bit embarassed to admit it.
He puts the notebook away. “Anyway, we might want to get to higher ground. Window could easily be broken.”
“Ughhhhh, I wish. Maybe if Muk here wasn’t so lazy she would have picked a dorm on a higher floor. But no, she had to ‘get to her classes on time!’ Like just skip.”
“Junko, that was you. But I agree with Rantaro. We need to go up. Even though I just finished barricading the door.”
“Alright!” Rantaro beams. We both start taking down the barricade.
