The actress who played Maritza came home one day to find that her parents were picked up by ICE. She basically stayed in the US without them. This probably hit real close to home for her.
-
The scene with the children in court really shows how disgusting and evil the ICE process is. “Do you know what a lawyer is?”
-
this season was so heartbreaking to watch, the ICE storyline had me sobbing
-
The ICE storyline taught me so much, OITNB did something that no news channel could, make us understand the reality these people live in and it was much more horrific than I thought it was.
-
There was no justice for no one this season it hurt 😰
-
At least it showed a range of ppl instead of just hispanics.
-
The child’s court pissed me off so badly! This is why we need immigration lawyers, and people willing to fight for others!
-
i became visibly mad when the lady started making mean girls references like this situation is something to joke about
-
Carla's story was really hard to watch, her screaming in the desert was disturbing.
-
fig owned my heart this season.
-
The fact that they had an indigenous woman speaking her indigenous language and showing the struggles a lot of indigenous women face. Wow. Just wow.
-
“will you be here for my birthday?” that broke my heart.
-
“mama they took our cat and our pokémon cards” the first time i heard that i instantly broke down in tears. they’re just poor innocent children trying to live wholesome normal lives.. that whole phone call broke me.
-
They deported Maritza where will she go she has never been to Colombia she was not born in America but she was there since she was a child !!! it was horrible where will she go in a country where she’s never been before
-
I could hear Fig’s pain in her voice when she saw those kids 😔
-
That the whole point of Carlos is that theres alot Latinos that work for ice! They could care less like the judge she should know better then to ask a child what a lawyer is! I hope this shit right here changes ppl minds! So easy to say " well they should know better than to come illegally" .
-
Shani's story broke my f*cking heart. She is most likely going to get killed when she gets back😔
-
the way kids actually have to go to court and defend themselves without lawyers is so upsetting. and it’s real and happening now
-
So crazy how at this point Natalie was the most humane out of the others in power smh

Carla's storyline really got to me because my mom is from El Salvador and came to the U.S when El Salvador was having their civil war back in the 80's. Growing up she would always tell me how bad the gangs were getting and how we couldn't visit our family there because it was getting more dangerous. So I really felt for Carla when she was pleading with the judge...kids need their parents when growing up.
