10:00 This is the sound dudes like Leo Fender and Les Paul had in mind when they started constructing first electric guitars back in fifties

I used to work in a music shop and one of the guys in Dismember used to get his guitars setup and fixed by me before/after tours.  One time he came in with a HHM-2 that had a busted pot. (For like the fifth time since they didn't use gates back then, just stomping it on and off between breaks)   Anyways... Since i knew what the settings was i asked him if it wasn't simpler to just remove all of the pots and solder "straight through"  "Shure why not.. I'm not turning those suckers anyways"  We ended up with a HM-2 with no knobs what so ever... and since all the nobs "steal" a little even att full throttle that one ended up being the "Turbo-HM-2" Later he told me he used it on "Where Iron Crosses Grow" since it had a little more of everything.

"Have you ever heard of Swedish Death Metal?" Hmm...it rings a bell, yeah...

I was wondering why the views on my HM-2 video just increased tenfold. Great tones, Ola.

Since I'm making a bit of fun of Gothenburg, and will probably lose a bit of subscribers, please help me work up the quota. Subscribe now!

They should do a special edition HM-2 with the Swedish flag 🇸🇪 paint theme

One time I plugged my Metal Zone into my HM-2. There's still remnants of the blood stain on my floor.
  • You must build your uwn guitar with an IKEA shelf for MAXIMUM Swedish Tone.

Back in 1996 I had this pedal in a black metal band with Martin Lopez and Martin Mendez (opeth) and we recorded a demo before they move to Sweden, lots of good memories :)
  • Here's how you find the lost volume knob: go out and buy a new one. When you get back from your local music store, that missing volume knob will be at the door to greet you upon your return. 😉

My favorite YouTube guitarist for sure. Its comedic, gets to the point, and he even left his fuck ups in the video. Thanks for the videos Ola!
  • I just love the old Swedish death metal tone like Entombed, Dismember, Unleashed, Grave, Bloodbath and Entrails.

They should have used the HM-2 for Kylo Ren's light saber sound effect.

I consider myself a youtube veteran. I have seen a lot of youtube videos over the years. This is one of the best videos i have seen. It is informative, it is fun, it is iconic, and it is sophisticated on several levels, while also being moronic in a good way. For one second I thought Göteborg was in Denmark, but then i remembered that we (I am danish) suck at making good metal :-(

Damn, I have been wondering how to create that sound for years. Amazing. This video makes me want to go back and listen to Clandestine or Left Hand Path.
