Thirty years after Rwanda's Genocide Against the Tutsi, hundreds of alleged killers remain at large.

A man accused by Rwandan authorities of participating in one of the worst atrocities of the 20th century is living in Australia’s suburbs, a joint Four Corners and Guardian Australia investigation reveals.

More than half a million people were killed during Rwanda’s genocide against its Tutsi minority in 1994.

Guardian reporter Ben Doherty travels to Rwanda to investigate the allegations — and confronts the man accused by Rwanda of being involved in several killings, who is now an Australian citizen.  He denies the allegations and says they amount to a smear campaign against him.

Four Corners and Guardian Australia do not suggest the man is guilty, but the serious allegations raise tough questions about immigration screening processes.

This episode was originally broadcast as 'The Wanted’ on 26 February 2024 on ABC TV and ABC iview.

Four Corners is Australia’s premier investigations documentary series.
