Diamonds in the Ruff

This raw short documentary is a close look into the lives of 6 African American addicts, including Director/Writer Dorothy Wilmore, who are now living in sobriety in the face of adversity in South Central. Wilmore's call to action came after reading an article with "research" suggesting that African Americans are at a predisposition to substance and alcohol abuse simply because of their stressful living conditions (i.e low income, unemployment, housing, etc). These 6 souls shatter all stereotypes about addiction in the Black community by telling very powerful, engaging, and inspiring stories which all share extreme adversity as their theme.
