God Bless the Turks. They forgave our Sins and have cared for our boys for over 100 years, as if they were their own boys. The people of Turkey are simply magnificent.

I'm sure they would be proud if they saw us. They reluctantly attacked each other that day, but we, as their descendants, were able to mourn for them peacefully side by side. Loves from Turkey. ππ»

As the great-grandson of a Gallipoli (Γanakkale) veteran, Mehmet Ali, I am always moved by the dawn services. Mehmet Ali, my great-grandfather, was wounded with a shrapnel in his cheek, which stayed there till his death, giving him what he had called 'his freaky looks'. After the war, he had a hard time reuniting with his family as he was afraid they would find his wounded face fearsome... May he, and all the veterans and the martyrs of the war (on both sides) rest in peace....

Bless to all that served and died .π Rest in peace.

That was my first time working as a Turkish Interpreter on the ANZAC day (We wore red jackets and T-shirts). The people, the atmosphere, it was all fascinating. Not to mention the traditional instruments of New Zealand!
