A Massachusetts bride and her co-workers helped save a man's life after he suffered a heart attack. Everyone at Micaela Johnson's wedding was dancing when a wedding guest suddenly collapsed. By a stroke of luck, the bride is an emergency room nurse and many of the guests were also nurses. They sprang into action, tending to the stricken man on the dance floor. The nurses did CPR and applied a defibrillator to his chest. The team was able to keep the guest alive until an ambulance arrived.

I'm always in awe of nurses and doctors. People were able to get a glimpse of the hard team work it takes to care for the sick. Great job. -Signed a proud fellow RN

Wow it’s unfortunate that he had a heart attack but thank god he was surrounded by all those nurses! Happy to hear he survived..Congratulations to the newlyweds!!
  • My grandfather had a heart attack at my aunts wedding and thankfully my dad is an EMT and noticed him slumping and administered CPR. Really extended his life and was a relief.
  • As a nurse my partner wonders why when I see an accident, fall, etc occur I initially have a big reaction of OMG...I tell him it's not cause I can't handle dealing w the aftermath, it's because as it's happening my brain immediately starts listing every worst case injury that may be happening and I give myself 5 seconds to let the fear flow out so I can go into emergency mode. So that's why I suck up all the air in the room and squeak for a second as I see the event occur because I know if one of the injuries that could happen, has just happened that I'm gonna have a heavy load on my hands momentarily. Like Jack in Lost lol he gives himself a brief moment to feel the fear and weight of the responsibility then deep breath, clear the mind and start working the steps. Treating anything is merely recalling a set of step by step instructions and performing them as perfectly as possible under life and death pressure.

  • This is why everyone needs to learn CPR and why every single building and business needs to have an AED on the property.
