    We have two varieties of persimmon here in Italy. The one that you're eating is called "caco mela" and you're supposed to eat it as an apple ( "mela" translates to apple ), so you have to eat it when it's crunchy and sweet like you did. And the other variety is just called "caco" and it is referred to the one which is more soft

    My favorite fruit! Here in Brazil they're called "Caquis", I generally eat it by itself, never really tried or heard of any recipes with it

    In Indonesia, we call it Kesemek. Back before the 2000s, there's a lot of people eating it and even making jokes about it. But now, It's very rare here
