As I write this it is just a few days past Veterans Day 2023. I feel truly fortunate to have heard both my father in law's stories (USN WWII) but also those of my brothers father in law (USMC WWII) first hand. Thanks to all now serving, those who have, and those who will in the future. FLY NAVY!!!
  • Rishi is a modern day hero of sorts. His dedication to his calling is awesome. Thank you, Rishi, for attempting this. You have already succeeded and will go on. ❤️😊
  • Thank you for your faithful acknowledgment of veterans every year. To be honest, after I served 3 years and got out, I didn’t even realize I was a vet. I didn’t go to war. In fact when I enlisted in the Army it was during their VolAr phase. Volunteer Army. I was sent overseas but during that time, after I didn’t make it through ATC school there were 2 options. Truck driver and cook. I couldn’t see me driving a deuce and a half so I chose cook. I finished my tour and got out. An unremarkable 3 years in the Army behind me. I don’t know how it came up but the topic of veterans surfaced and my husband, who did 20 years including 3 tours of Vietnam, mentioned me being a vet. I told him I didn’t go to war, in fact I didn’t do anything more then go overseas (since it was considered peace time). He said I was a war era vet. The Vietnam War was still on in 1974. But I never admitted it. It didn’t seem right to say I was a vet when I didn’t do anything except fulfill my contract and there were so many who gave so much more. I still rarely say anything about my time in service. My sisters are the only ones who remember. They are like that. I don’t say anything because they love me. But when I talk to people I tell them my husband was the vet. I was just there!

I served in the Marine Corps for 8 years and paying tribute to these warriors was wonderful.

Thank you for doing these stories! As a veteran myself, it always so touching to see that people care about what we do.

I´m from Germany, I live near Grafenwoehr. I can´t stop watching Mr. Steve Hartman´s "on the road", the stories are so heart touching. Thank you Mr. Hartman for your wonderful stories. And a big "Thank you for your service" goes to every soldier and their families.
  • Thanks you for sharing this! My grandfather, John Willard Shaver served aboard the USS Whitley at Iwo Jima. He would never share anything with us about WWII. I think this young man would have been able to get him to talk about it with him. Thank you, Mr. Sharma, for recording our servicemen!!!

I try to do 3 things every day: 1. Kiss a baby 2. Pet a dog and 3. Say thank you to a veteran for my freedom. I would not be free without the courage of every man and woman who fought for our country.
  • That's why we should pray not only for our troops, current. But for the veterans who deal with all they had to go through. Including living while others passed
