Finally found this! Folks took me to the theater to see this in '68 when I was 2 years old. All these years I've carried a few of the images in my mind (the orb opening up, the balloons, the gangly-armed alien), but couldn't figure out what movie that was. Finally discovered this. Now I've subjected myself to this masterpiece all over again! I'm guessing my 2-year-old self was highly critical of this flick.
  • Saw this at the cinema when I was a kidwith my family, but no one else remembered it but me! Thanks!
  • Thanks very much for posting this! I saw Mission Mars on TV in the early 70s when I was a maybe 6-year-old serious space enthusiast. Like other commenters, I had memories for years afterward of Mission Mars’ captivating eeriness. I was really taken in by the “haunted house in space” mystique and the mounting horror. I vaguely recalled international competition, tragic sacrifice, heroic rescue, and an astronaut screaming “my God, my eyes!” before being dragged into a mysterious metallic sphere as I watched absolutely petrified with fear. I also drew pictures of the icky bendy space plant that looked like a tortured soul. When I saw Mission Mars again in my 20s of course I laughed at the production and script limitations. Still later in life, however, I could appreciate that they actually achieved some merit with this low-budget flick. There’s some spooky Twilight Zone atmosphere and decent space horror/ adventure here, and even charm in some of the effects work, if you go in with the right frame of mind. You have to try to see the intentions rather than the faults, and consider how much they accomplished for the audience of their era with their limited resources. Learning to look at a movie that way can be a skill worth developing. It can let you find higher experiences in lower films. Mission Mars also features some notable period NASA footage. Early Saturn rocket footage is rare, and there is coverage here that is genuinely cool to see from the pioneering glory days of space exploration. For all its cheesiness in some respects, I like a movie like this better than a lot of today’s colossally overdone CG blah-busters. Hollywood did a heck of a lot more with less in the old days. Whatever faults Mission Mars has, the production doesn’t have to carry the moral burden of having blown hundreds of millions of dollars on superficial junk when the world was falling apart around it. It’s a treat to be able to return to this creepy space horror adventure made in the heyday of the real space program. Thank you, poster!

I never got to meet my second cousin Nick as his Mom and my Grandmother were Sisters. Glad to find his last film made before he passed on.

YAY! I found it at last! I remember seeing this movie in a drive-in when I was fairly young, and I've wanted to find it again just for the nostalgia for a few years. Thanks for uploading this film.

Darren Mcgavin as Kolchak the Night Stalker and A Christmas Story. Never thought I'd see him in something like this.
  • The best is the music .I'm was expecting James Bonds to show up any minute!

One of my second cousin, Nick Adams last movies ! At 17 never got to meet him but my late Uncle and his Army friend called Elvis Presley were going to take me out to meet him and it never was to be.

I cant believe a half million people have watched this on YouTube! That's about 50,000 time the number of people who saw it in the theatre! I know, because I was one of the 10. I was a little kid and it gave me nightmares.
  • Sure glad to know they got this film made on time and actually UNDER BUDGET!!! That's right they still had $1.63 left  after everyone was paid. With a total production budget of $300.00 that's not easy! :)
  • I haven't see this since I was 8 years old in 1971! It kinda freaked me out when I saw first saw it mainly because I didn't understand what was happening. Now that I've seen it again, I finally have a better understanding of what was going on. Thanks for posting!

I don't care how bad they are, it's hard to beat these cheesy flicks for late night fare. Thanks for the up-load.

Groovy flick. I was 13 when this was released. The Invaders was in it's second year, along with other all time favorites on T.V. I lived on the Space Coast of Florida at the time, about 30 miles away from many shots here. It was the era of wicked cars and some really far out people. I was in the Boy Scouts and there was still plenty of woods to roam around in on the coast, long before condos sprung up completely blocking the great view out over the sea along A1A.
  • 40 years ago an older friend told me about this movie. And he just kept saying "And their helmets were not helmets! They just had face shields open at the bottom!" and he would laugh. I didn't believe him. I stand corrected
  • Thanks for uploading this monument to astronomic and cinematographic excellence.
  • @MatthewOfLondon
I am absolutely loving the music in this film! It's like a 1960's Nine Inch Nails ❤

Thanks for posting. I saw this a number of times as a small kid in the UK, at the kids Saturday morning cinema club. The opening nightmare part always stuck in mind, together with the melting eyes, scared the hell out of me at the time. This time round I didn't need to hide behind the chair, or at least I'm not admitting to doing so on an open forum !
