Evolution is change over time. So in that sense, the guided and directed evolution process is part of the creation

I think sometimes people engage in mental gymnastics because they have adopted a hardened position on one side or the other and try to make facts fit their argument. I believe God created the Universe. I believe God created us in His image. I believe the deeper we look into the matter, be it astrophysics or biology, the fine tuning of it all may not rule out random happenstance, but it certainly requires a large leap of faith to accept all the cosmological constants and own ecosystem lining up in such a way that was just a matter of winning some cosmic lottery. The truth is we will never know the mind of God, no matter how many computer models we build or how many new theories arise as old ideas start to fall apart. I guess it's all faith at the end of it, regardless of which position you take.

Is he essentially saying Darwinism is true because God designed it that way?

For me, this comes down the first verse of the first chapter of the first book in the bible: "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth". Whether by evolution or in six days is not important.

So agrees with evolution but attaches intelligent design at the end. If intelligent design is demonstrably real (as you state right at the end of the video) then demonstrate it already. See science goes whetever the evidence leads. Whereas this guy is saying well we think it is intelligent design and we are going to come up with arguments for that. "We are developing powerful arguments for intelligent design". Perhaps we should start by demonstrating your God exists first. Then we can move from taht and determine if it created and designed the Universe and everything in it.

Sounds like more appeasement to “science.” There has never been a genus that evolved into another.
