ADDITIONAL VIDEO NOTES:

1. Active Noise Cancellation

Airplane
Crowd

Wind - I am working on a way to quantify this. Subjectively, Bose did a better job with wind

Bose has 11 levels between transparency and ANC but can never turn off
AirPods only have ANC/off/Transparency

Both have adaptive transparency with dB threshold, but Bose has a lower threshold

2. MIC TEST

So we are tied 1:1 and honestly, both are pretty solid so far. But what about the audio quality?

3. AUDIO QUALITY

4. BATTERY
Bose battery = 6/24hrs WITH ANC - 4/16 with immersive
AirPods battery = 6/30hrs, but about 4.5/24 with ANC

5. FEATURES
AirPods Find My. You can find the Bose case, but won’t use UWB
AirPods have a case speaker
Bose works well with android or apple
Both have mono mode
Neither has multipoint, but AirPods sort of do for apple products only, Bose has app switching. AirPods switching is now faster with update
Tap and swipe controls vs Pinch and swipe
EarScan for 360 audio in AirPods
Spatial audio vs immersion mode
AirPods have adaptive audio that can adjust based on you
Bose plays calibration sound for each ear
Bose has “modes”
AirPods are getting a mute gesture
AirPods are getting conversational awareness
Works well with all devices vs only really apple devices
Has an app

6. DESIGN
Bose case has no wireless charging
AirPods case can charge qi, magsafe, apple watch, or USB-C
AirPods are IP54 in buds and case, Bose are just IPX4
AirPods are smaller with smaller case
AirPods have lanyard hook
Both are comfortable, and both eventually fall out of my left ear
Bose has wing tip, so more secure
AirPods are smaller though and have an XS tip added this time
Bose has additional eartip sizes for purchase
AirPods have skin detection

I have both. Long story but one was a gift. The Bose just has a bigger, fuller sound and way way better ANC. If you’re at a gym, you won’t hear a thing. Call quality is far less superior than the AirPods Pro 2. If you do a ton of calls, get the AirPods. If you value the synchronization with the Apple world, get the AirPods. Actually, the mid-range is also crisp and better than the Bose too. AirPods do loosen and change position more depending upon your ear type. If you value silencing out the world, better overall sound quality with heavy bass, and overall a better fit - get the Bose
  • Up front, I've been a bose fan for 50 years, but that was speakers and headphones. I've been using apple earpods for quite a few years now. Yesterday, I decided to buy a pair of the bose ultras and I love them. Using the finger touch controls are more intuitive and the bose music app is great. You can even put favorite settings in. I haven't experienced the static problem in the left ear bud, but then I wasn't listening for it. In this case, Bose is the better choice, at least for me.

Very interesting thanks. I have ordered the Bose, because I like the more bass sound that I enjoy with the first generation QC and I do a lot of travelling. Also the 1st generation QCs were not always comfortable and could dislodge and fall out if walking. Therefore for me tightness and sound are the priorities.

Great job! Thanks for providing dB information that others don't.
  • @mishrajiBHU
Thanks for bringing in such clear comparative video

Also the warranty with Bose is much better, I had the QC's 2020 model and the right earbud stopped working (I dropped it a lot). I contacted Bose after trying to troubleshoot it and they are sending me the QC Ultras once I send in my pair and they validate it, for free.

I expected it would be more powerful to cancel out crowd noise, which is most important to me.

I’ve been using the APP2 for nearly a year and get a decent 5-5.5h with ANC/transparency on.
  • @AG-gd5wd
When is your vid coming out comparing the ultra to the previous gen 2 Bose?
  • @broti

As someone shopping for earbuds now and considering both of them, this video couldnt have come at a more perfect time
  • @PUT_N_WRK
I really dig the video. How come you're the only one with the QC Ultra's??
  • @7even871
11:29 I’ve had the original Bose earbuds for a couple years. I’ve literally dropped them in water completely submersed two times, and they still worked fine.
  • @Bellcat539
Please can you compare the Bose Ultra earbuds with the Sony WF-1000XM5?
