Only Cory can make a video about sponge filters super interesting.

Corey you freaking rock dude. Saving us money, providing a great product, and over-delivering! Man, more people should run business like you, because you care about your customers because they are your peers. Thank you.

These coarse filters and the air stones are SO much better than the ones I was using. I can't believe how quiet they are! And I can hide them with an Anubias and they totally blend in. The filter-picking critters even like them better. NOW please, do a nerdy version where you explain lift, and best placement in a tank with one or two filters for different size tanks. LIke 1 filter in a 10 gal; 1 filter in 45Tall, 2 filters in 60 long, etc. LOVED the other filter where you show the cleaning process and water the plants. Thanks!

I'd like to make a suggestion to you. About 25 years back I had just started dating the woman I eventually married and I gave her a 55 gallon tank I wasn't using. It had a really nice stand and matching wooden top that I had built so it was an excellent piece of furniture that fit in a nitch in her den. She had never had fish before so I took her out and bought about a one or two dozen african cichlid fry. I didn't want the tank to be any real work for her as a novice so I purchased two of the coffee can sized sponge filters. If you notice most are large enough at the top to put a section of 1" pvc and it fits tightly. I cut the pvc about four inches short of the top of the tank and placed a power head on each one. No noisy air pumps that vibrate all over the place and no filter floss to change out frequently. I gave her one set of directions. Each week draw out around four gallons of water, pull out one sponge filter and wash it out in the old water, then put it back in the tank and replace the four gallons with fresh water. Swapping which filter you cleaned every week. That tank stayed crystal clear for years and the fish grew to adult size healthy and happy. You don't need the air bubbles flowing up for oxygen exchange just the water flow across the surface from the power heads. I will say this will work best in a much deeper front to back tanks where you can hide the filters behind rocks or plants so they don't show.

I was convinced the longer, internal airline was the only way to optimize flow. Thanks for the education! I'm going to fix them all my next water change.

This is what i love about Cory. He takes something as simple as a sponge filter and yet improves it since he is a serious fish keeper. As a novice in the hobby I know i can buy his stuff and i am getting something with thought behind it. Not just a corporation throwing out a filter to sell.

You have to be a major fish nerd to watch a 20 minute video about sponge filters. Thank you for this video Cory.
  • Thank you so much for this video!! I'm in my first month of fish-keeping. I've watched a bunch of sponge filter videos, but I haven't seen a single one where someone changed each variable individually to show the differences. All the other videos were "do it like this" without the "here's why." I learned a lot!

I love the breakdown bc someone like me is very imaginative and I can have endless interpretation as what to do - not all successful lol
  • @simongerard008
The random antics in this video bring another level of authenticity in Cory. You can't help but feel engaged when he's teaching. Loving the quality of these vids. Keep up the great work as always.
  • @bryanjordan8876
I honestly expected the small sponge filter to be over 10 bucks. The ones at my local fish stores aren't nearly as nice and run around $7 for small ones. You guys are so good for this hobby!
  • @StoopKidGaming
The small edits in this video make an already good video even better. I love it.

Corey is one of the smartest person on youtube, who just happens to be a fish lover. Lucky us. He's shared so much knowledge with us all. Thank you sir.

I just set up the large size with the air stone and the aquarium Co-op tubing. This video was perfect for giving me all the info I needed and walking me through step-by-step. The customer service is amazing, hi Candi
  • Thanks for this video it saved me from having to search through all your other sponge filter video's. Instead of watching two or three I got all the information in one. Keep up the great work Aquarium Co Op team

Am I the only one who likes the "glug glug" noise? 😂 Makes me feel like I'm a witch

Just got the one I ordered and installed it today. It came very fast and I am extremely impressed with the quality. I especially like that it’s weighted. Really well. It is my very first sponge filter, after seeing so many reviews and people recommending them I decided to give it a try. It’s so nice that we can refer to these videos for help with the set up. I’m still getting a bubble come out from the top of the sponge every once and awhile. I made sure the tube to the air stone really short as directed in the video. I’m sure I just some fine tuning to do. I hope I put it in the proper place within my aquarium, that was my biggest question. Time will tell!!! ☺️👍 🧽
