In this video I break down split ring tire & rim from a 71 deuce and a half. These wheels are not as dangerous as some people make them out to be. There will be a part 2 where I put on a new tire without a tire cage and LIVE to tell about

Bummer Dude! I gave this video two thumbs down because I was hoping to see You bouncing that duckbill hammer for thirty two minutes straight! Okay, maybe I just told a little white lie there. So I only gave you one thumb up... I'd have figured out a way to give ya two if'n you hadn't cheated by using power tools! Okay, okay, I sometimes resort to taking the easy route as well. When the going gets tough I will utilize our 160 hp, 15 ton bead breaker (Deere 644E) My understanding would be that is a budd rim with a split lock ring. My father has a trailer which has a true 'split rim' as the two halves connect in the center of the rim and one overlaps the other. I believe that to be from a forties or fifties Ford 1 1/2 ton truck. Dad broke his arm as a young man airing up one of those. We also had rims with a solid ring which were a challenge. Pretty much as you stated, it all depends on the condition of the rim. Many of those here in the rust belt are in pretty tough shape by that age. Rust is easy to see, cracks are a little more difficult to detect. So, when is the video scheduled where you turn up the pump and install compound turbos? I can't wait to see you cut a couple holes in the bed for some big 'ol stacks.... Roll Some Coal Damon!!! Blessings Brother!
