As a Russian average skinny guy I got never robbed in Moscow. It's one of the safest cities actually, and I've travelled a lot. Just drive uber or train, instead of taxi guys approaching you in the airport, and don't meet a girl from tinder in a bar which she suggests but which you can't find on google maps General rule: don't use the service that somebody actively imposes on you
  • @MrSmoothasf
He doesnt have much luck with taxis. Got done in Jamaica too
  • I'm from Moscow. Never ever have heard a story like that. Thats like a 1 in a 1 millions chance. But from what I understand he came during the World Cup. The "not official taxis" did charge like 10x the original fair from the airport. But it was not in thousands of dollars))

Interesting story, but very surprising that someone of his status, wisdom, experience, and wealth had to look for a taxi on the spot in a foreign country without speaking their language, rather than order one in advance from that 5-star hotel or trusted local limo/taxi company, as that's what all rich & experienced travelers do. At the very least, he should have ordered an Uber or a local equivalent to it which would have been much safer. Contrary to what he said - that's the real lesson from his story people should take notes from (not the idea of not putting your luggage in the back of the car).

Firstly, 5 star hotels COLLECT YOU from the airport Why would you email the hotel instead of just calling them? Why doesn't he know the currency for a man that doesn't accept a low cell phone battery in terms of competence? Why doesn't he use Yandex, a taxi mobile application linked to a card for travel? There are so many holes in the story for such a "security conscious" man as he portrays.

He had the look of a killer just like me 😂😂😂😂

Have had simalar happen in Thailand with motorcycle taxi who took me and a friend. I negotiated the price before leaving for us both. They dropped us in separate areas and charged us separately while my friend was asked for much more in order to get him to the destination because they are very smart and could tell he was nervous and somewhat green so could bully him.
  • @noamanpatel3784
Tate should've just booked a taxi with the hotel or the airline's link with a shuttle service from the onset 🤦‍♂️ I never trust airport taxi drivers anywhere 😮
  • @teknical100
Always negotiate the price before setting off.

The first time I went to Moscow (1992), I paid $10 for the taxi to Intourist Hotel, on Tverstaya Street, close to the State Duma. The driver even wrote his phone number on a 1-rouble note, just in case I needed a driver again. 😎
  • @kayn6858
Thats why you dont take unregistered taxis. Stick to ubers, bolts, grab etc
  • @garygary7376
I had this taxi experience in Beijing 7 years ago. It took the driver like forever to get to the destination from the hotel where I was at. Because of the Chinese firewall my internet connection was dead n I was not able to use navigation n actually see where the guy was driving to. But, having good spatial memory, i had this odd feeling that he was driving in circles on the highway, only to pump the meter up n get more money. Turns out i was right. I managed to get back to the hotel later that day with a friend of mine twice as fast. I got "legally" robbed 😑

Hi Rob. Absolutely loving the Tate episodes. When is the next one? X
  • @stt.9433
That's why I always use Uber if I'm traveling. This happens in Thailand literally every day but they're small so they try to do it on the sly and charge you European rate.
  • @almurabitun
The funniest story of him is the Tunisian gang in London that stole his car 😂😂😂
  • @ThePeoplesOffice
Get Tristian on next. I'm a big fan of both guys. Entertaining is Andrew. Tristian is more down to 🌍 tho. Lol

Happened to me in Turkey , it took me a while to figure out what happened, went out at night when I come back to take a take taxi I took one and the driver let another ride drive who spoke very perfect English but looked like a criminal , I gave him adddress and he said knew it , he took me the wrong hotel and meter was on and he took long ways to make meter go up more and I sensed it he was trying to scam me so I kept quite until I get to the right hotel then he asked me for the money and it was like hundred dollar when it was suppose to be like 10 dollars I started to tell that’s his mistake he kept driving and he wanted take me to the cops I finally said ok here is the money , and run away , I knew I was step up but nothing I can do I am in a foreign country they all against me , after that I thought about it and I solved the puzzle they do it to many people and they all part of it
  • @fuadkattan2924
This is why i always book transportation in advance, Once had to knock out 2 guys and im 5.6
  • @vasionok
He is decorating it a bit. There is no $6 taxi from an airport to Kempinski.
