HANDUP Gloves Long Term Review - MTB Gloves Long Term Test

Published 2020-04-27
Got these when they first became available. I was still deployed then, but have been using these since October 2018. Well over a year useage now.
How have they held up and would I buy another pair?

HandUp gloves also came with the April Gear Club box from Vital MTB which I did an unboxing on last week. They still have boxes available if you're interested. You really get your monies worth.

1:36 A trick I have been using for years with great success is spitting on the glove, but if you get very sweaty it might work too.

your gloves look in great shape to be ridden a lot, I have many Poc Resistance Strong gloves they are the opposite of what the name say, at least the palm is, venting holes, stretching palm, but Index gloves did not have that issues, but I think I should try different gloves, the HandUp gloves look promising, I probably should get hand guards to protect my hands. cus they don't have any padding, but padding no my Poc gloves don't protect against impacts really cus the pads are so thin, but against abrasions they do.I rarely hit my hands or fingers, but I have done in the past quite hard, also ridden through bushes, also crashed, So I am a fan of having padding on the fingers, so that's why I want to try Mechanix gloves, but I heard mixed experiences, some like them for riding, some don't. maybe Mechanix gloves plus hardstands would be the best solution. and hands up gloves or similar for more gentle riding? I have a spare set of gloves with me cus I wear the palm material on my gloves, I had to swap gloves under one ride once so far.
  • I’ve never had a really good pair of gloves that were actually cell phone friendly. Are usually wind up taking at least one off to hit the buttons or change my GPS direction.
  • I got my first Handups just before lockdown and closing on my house so I haven't given em a good ride yet. They feel great around the house though!!

If you wash and dry in the dryer it lessens the life of the glove the thread will soften up and stretch then shrink in heat. Just my opinion I played a lot of ice hockey and the gloves I had and fixed. I know somewhat about the glove thing.
