  • Thanks for this! I'm from Ireland and moving to Spokane in early June so it was nice to see someone from my side of the world enjoying living in Spokane :)
  • @esthermofet
I agree on the need for cycle-friendliness. Also improving the infrastructure for pedestrians/runners/joggers or just simply walking for the sake of walking.

If you like Spokane's view, you should visit Medical lake!

Thanks for the update! It's always great to hear seasoned perspectives after the honeymoon phase of moving somewhere has waned. Great insight and analysis! 😊
  • Spokane is alright, it just gets boring after a while. I lived there ten times longer than you bro, I assess is Seattle is prettier and warmer. I am done dealing with the snow, and those roads.
  • its going to be a year for my husband and I in August and so far Im still loving it. the only negative that I see is seeing homeless population more out of down town. In other states I have lived at they are normally mostly in down town area. Having said that I hope once every settles down regarding covid and business start going back to normal we can start on solutions.

I have lived in Spokane for sixteen years, moved from Macon, GA working as a civilian, for the Navy. I was born and raised in NW Tennessee. I have lived in Scotland and spent eight months in Puerto Rico and Okinawa serving in the Navy. I have lived around Napa Vally, CA, WA, VA, DC, MD, MS, FL, KY, GA, and spent a small amount of time in AL, MO. Most of what Mr. Wells spoke about the good and bad was correct. It is a beautiful area of WA and ID with plenty of snowing, fishing, trails and so on. The crime of property and vehicles are true being the fact Spokane needs more hires on the police force, but cannot for having hundreds of lawsuits to deal with. The council men and women elected are not the sharpest tools in the shed. Not counting the second street and surrounding streets in downtown the streets are not good and places are worse than shown in this vid even in downtown. Thanks for poor planning with the power company and the people hired for the upkeep of the streets, as they do not communicate well if at all on tearing up the streets by the power company, then fixing them back, and then the city takes them up again fixing or upgrading something. Also, the city does not have anything for anyone to keep their yards in order like cleanup, mowing, or keeping junk out of their spaces, as which same goes for city own property. There is plenty of coffee shops and stands along with the bars and buying liquor in stores. There are a few tattoo shops and marijuana places, with a few wine shops too. There are plenty of places to eat and not to mention a few hospitals and clinics, with wellness and health clinics. In general, the people are not friendly much to strangers like in the east but getting with the people here they warm up. It is easy to get from point A to point B in Spokane, as from downtown to any place north to south to east to west will take under thirty minutes. The local news stations are just as good as any in America, if not some better.

I've been there now 3 months and love it more and more everyday.
  • @HalfHarry
I was thinking about moving here from South Yorkshire England my fellow brit. the beauty of the nature is the main attraction but house prices seem to be rising quick
  • @donaldshoup3072
In reality the cost of living in Spokane is a bit high compared to the median wage average in Spokane making real world affordable housing for a median wage single income family hard to find. Spokane has always had not so good roadways, snowy winters and snow plows are the biggest culprit. Either way I’ll be moving back to Spokane within the next 12 months as I near the end of my military career. I just hope the Spokane area doesn’t get any more expensive to live there in the meantime and continues to keep the hometown feel that I remember it.
  • @Doobie1975
Me I would lower the cost of living back to 2015 level in Spokane, bring back healthy air quality towards the end of summers (at least up to pre-2015 levels), fix the roads, make Spokane more bike friendly and lower the homeless problem
  • @adinevanhulst
Thank you for your video and your review. I’m interested in learning more about the city and possibly moving there one day.
  • @redalaska
Coming from Alaska it seemed like the roads were fabulous. 🀣
  • @LONE_STORMER
my biggest question is how inclusive is the city? Things like being Mexican, LGBTQ+, things like that
  • @smalone113
The cost of living is up and doesn’t support the wades in the area. The property crime is one of the worst. The drug use and homeless are out of control. The infrastructure is terrible. Customer service is nonexistent. Not a lot is done to beautify the area. The food is sub par. Things do improve the closer you get to Coeur D Alene. Good luck buying a house. Spokane is number 5 and CDA is number 1 in the nation for the housing boom. The houses you can find are selling well over asking price (20K plus) and doing it within a couple days.
  • @brysonballenger
Spokane isn't horrible, but in the 9 years of living here I have noticed a boom in the population and in the homeless community. It used to be a pretty easy going but between California buying up every single property they can get their hands on to make a profit on rentals and all the others seeing it as a potential of how cheap it is to live here I have become less happy being here.
