Look at how the adults act now days, what kid wouldn't be depressed.
  • Social media. Video games. Ultra-processed foods and SUGAR! Less outdoor and exercise time. Both parents having to not only work but work overtime. Our “progress” is literally killing us.

I am very proud of that kid. Austin way to go. You are going to grow up to be a fantastic dude. Mental health is something that you should never be ashamed of. I hope they keep in contact with this young man.
  • It's these damn phones. Believe me, I feel so anxious and then once I take a walk in the rain or once I go to a beach or literally anywhere away from the phone and connect it to nature, I don't feel anxious anymore and I also don't feel anxious chatting with people

No child should have any access to social media prior to turning 18.

get them to put down their phones. Social media is destroying us

What a great kid! I can see Austin helping a lot of other people and possibly becoming the same type of therapist to help children like him in the future, God willing.

Its despicable how human beings care more about money than they do about their own children.

What an amazing young man Austin is. Very brave! Hope he is doing well.
  • Austin, you are such a beautiful, intelligent, insightful, articulate, compassionate and brave soul. Your big brown eyes light up this world young man. Your mama just beams when she looks at you and listens to your wise worlds. Her love for you is palpable. You are very special…truly a gift. Your essence reached right through the screen to this 60 your old mama in california and broke my heart wide open. I pray you will continue to improve. I can share with you that what my child and I both found helpful when going through our own very dark time was to stay away from social media, limit video game by a lot, get as much fresh air as possible, move your body in ways that you find fun (ie: scootering, biking etc) and stay away from the news. When someone like yourself is as sensitive as you are, the news can be overwhelming. I have convinced myself that the most important thing I can do in today’s world is just try to make my own little corner as peaceful as possible…knowing that that peace will trickle out. Lastly, as much as you can Austin, try to stay away from ultra processed foods…especially anything that has sugar in it. These things are fun and yummy, but our bodies and minds were not designed to process the chemicals and they cause horrific depression. It’s scientifically proven that the more fruits and veggies you eat today the better your mood will be tomorrow. I know it’s so hard, especially when you are young, but I promise you through my personal experience, it works. My heart is with you handsome young man. One minute at a time…I pray you stay with us. This world and your family need you. Sending love from California.
  • It breaks my heart to see children and teenagers go through this. Austin is such an intelligent kid ❤️✨

I was a teen with clinical depression so my 💜 goes out to all of them 💜💜💜
  • For 6th grade, my youngest decided to be home schooled after his bus driver unknowingly drug him down the street as he was caught in the door of the bus!!! He came in that day terrified. Of course the driver was very sorry. That was a growing year and at the same time a very difficult year as he had prior, many friends.... I did my best to help him, we got involved in activities but it still hurt that no one had invited him over. He grew in many ways that year and went back to public school. A year I will never forget as far as mental health.

The system is broken trying to help the broken --- Lets fix it
  • I love this kid. He should go far in life. He articulates very well.

I don't understand why teens say that the virus of '20 scarred them the most. Yes, I agree that year of lockdowns was miserable for us all. But if I remember, it was teenagers who refused to help "flatten the curve". In my city, it was the younger generation that would not wear a mask if they were asked to. And it was the same kids who looted businesses after a day of peaceful protesting. Again, someone (preferably a teen) please tell me how COVID-19 caused them such severe depression.
