RARE Mountain Dew Xbox is BROKEN - Must Fix It!!! I paid $515 for this broken Mountain Dew Xbox. I made a previous video trying to fix it by replacing all the capacitors but when that didn't work I wasn't ready to give up. This video is trying out some of the suggestions my viewers had to see if any of those get this game console working again.

The couple that diagnose electronic hardware issues together, stays together.

Tip for clearing out vias: Try 3d printer nozzle cleaning needles. They come as small as 0.2mm diameter so should be able to clear out most vias if needed. You can also try acuupuncture needles as they come in extremely fine diameters.

That error 07 is the HDD timing out. Could be a bad hard drive, bad/loose IDE cable, or something else. Replacing the HDD on these isn't as simple as replacing it. There is an encrypted key that ties the drive to the motherboard. You'd have to install a modchip, or extract the key and format a new drive with that key. You can extract the key with a Raspberry Pi among other methods. That drive is on its last life, which explains the noise you're hearing.
  • That beeping noise is from the Seagate hard drive. That's the cry of death. I'd swap out that hard disk. Or give it the proper power.
  • @Lukeno52
The beeping noise definitely sounds like the hard drive platters were stuck or the drive was otherwise not spinning up correctly, and that 100% tallies up with the error you got after the console first turned on. It might be that nudging the cable was enough to make it seat properly and run the drive correctly, or it might be that the drive managed to free itself - hard to say, but I wouldn't entirely trust it.

I think it's genuinely the cutest and most wholesome thing ever that your wife spends time with you like this on something you enjoy. I'm so happy to see your channel grow so much since I subscribed way back when! Wishing nothing but the best for you both!
  • @lukehyoshy
That was a amazing fix! Always impressive to see you find those little details!
  • @LegitStar
I always enjoy the follow up videos like this and break downs of what was done with the items fixed
  • Watching you fix anything is always a joy to watch and a highlight of the week! Even a bigger joy when Tronicswife is in a video! Just love watching you guys work together. Think we need more videos of 'The Tronics family' 😂

11:12 Don’t be alarmed, that just means there’s no AV port connected. Gave me a scare when I bought my first one! As for the buzzing, I’m not 100% sure.
  • @WillThePlank
I had one of those Seagate hard drives die so badly in an OG Xbox it actually burnt out one of the chips on the drives main board! I believe as others have said that the platter wasn’t spinning hence the beeping noise, you need to either soft mod this ASAP and dump the EEPROM and maybe even zero out the drive key (as drives are tied to the main board) or fit a mod chip and change out the hard drive. Lots of resources on the OG Xbox Facebook group as to what your next step in saving this console should be :)

Congrats on the fix! Your channel has inspired me a lot to continue to repair stuff and do electronic maintenance in general. I got an iFixit toolkit and screw sorter for Christmas and I am going to get a hot air station soon. I have a solder station already so I plan to repair a Pokémon pinball gameboy cartridge once I have a hot air station. I have a degree in electrical engineering and I really enjoyed learning circuits and soldering while I was in school. Thanks for your videos!

As an Engineer as a Hardware developer I really like your videos. 💪🏻👁️
  • @jquikshot
I'm so impressed you got that working. Great job!
  • @jasonmarquette
Great video, I wasn't sure if you were going to get that running. It was starting to look like the board might need replacing. Glad you got it going.
  • @SuperLemonAdam
More TronixWife! Love watching these tag-teams with you two. Anyway, as always...great work! Keep being awesome!
  • @Anthony19byrne
Awesome that you both considered the options in the comments. I haven't a clue about any of this but it's interesting to see how all this works.
