So it now appears that this spring Kharkhiv offensive for the Russians much resembles the German Kursk offensive in 1943, at least as far as the outcome of two attacking pincers failing to break through and link up. Of course in scale this offensive is far far smaller. We also know today that Kursk was the last time the Germans were able to mount an offensive of that size, and it used all the attacking power they could muster at the time. We can hope that today's offensive resembles Kursk in that way too when the history of this war is written.
