Addiction is a disease, not something that you choose. That goes for crack and other drugs, but also for fast food, being nasty on social media, alcohol, sleeping/calming tablets, working all the time, etc. And it's not because one thing is more accepted by society than the other, that it's a 'better' addiction. I feel sorry for most of these people, I think that at least 80% also have serious mental health issues, probably homeless because of a divorce or being let go of work and no money for an expensive rental... I'm happy that there still are organisations that help these people with food, health check-ups, temporary housing, etc. Not jealous at all. Of course you have some people that profit from this, but you have those everywhere. They're the minority.
