Episode 52

Most of the time when you'd beat a game on the NES, that was all there was. A few games added extra challenging modes, but for the most part these were just minor variations to the original. Super Mario Bros substituted some enemies, and Ghost N' Goblins instated that you replay it a second time.

The Legend of Zelda wasn't like those at all - Once you complete the game, the developers included an all new Second Quest! The dungeons were completely new, the overworld had a new layout, there were new enemies, and even a new dungeon mechanic that lets Link walk through walls!

Adding this much extra content was practically unheard of at the time, but Nintendo was known for going above and beyond. So what is this Second Quest all about, and what if you've already played the first quest years ago, but don't have a save file ready to play the second quest now? in today's episode we'll find out, and then we'll dive deep into Zelda's rarely seen Second Quest where we'll learn:

* Where are all of the NEW dungeons?

* The SECRET to starting the Second Quest with Bombs!

* How to find EVERY item and upgrade!

* SECRETS of the RECORDER - It works differently in the Second Quest!

* Get TONS OF RUPEES - Find ALL of the HIDDEN caches!

* The best way to NAVIGATE the new Overworld!

* Where to find EVERY HEART CONTAINER - Max out your Health!

* Secrets of the Second Quest's POWER BRACELET - It's mandatory this time!

* DATA on all of the Second Quest's ENEMIES with item drop tables!

* How to SHORTEN THE FUSE of your BOMBS for precision accuracy!

* The Roocorder GLITCH - How to do it!

* Where to get the BEST DEALS at stores in the Second Quest - Save your hard earned Rupees!

* How to deal with the dreaded RED BUBBLES!

* Where to find the MAGICAL SWORD this time - its not in the same place!

* How to cheat at the GAMBLING GAME and GET RICH!

* The SECRET to passing the "Grumble Grumble" guy WITHOUT giving up your Bait!

* How to defeat EVERY BOSS... even Ganon, AGAIN!

Thanks for watching!

THE LEVEL 6 MAP: I forgot to get the level 6 map in the video, so if you're looking for it: Go UP 2 screens from the starting point and BOMB the TOP WALL to get to the next room. From here go LEFT 1 screen and defeat all of the enemies to get the map. The room you're looking for has a rectangular river of red water (blood), and this is the only room in the dungeon that looks this way. Hope that helps!

Hell yeah. This is the ONLY video game my dad ever played though. He was OBSESSED. He even recorded his runs on VHS so that he could show me when I got home from school

YCBVG - you don't know how badly a good walkthrough of the 2nd Quest of Zelda needed to be done. Kudos on the super smart idea and also thanks for all you do, I'm greatly enjoying the series! Keep up the great work!

God the second quest of Zelda. You never know just how much Nintendo's designers were holding back in their other games until you see what they produce when the gloves are off. Those money-or-life rooms are diabolical.

I think the dedication to showing everything games have to offer is why I'm hoping Clash at Demonhead makes the list someday. That game was like a low key acid trip.

LoZ is like being happy you beat your little brother in a wrestling match and then the second quest is your dad showing up and drunkingly asks “you think you’re better than me?! Let’s wrassle!”…

One trick I love to use is kill all but one enemy in each area. By doing this they never respond until they are all dead. Meaning that each area you only have to dodge on monster for the rest of the game.

Perfect timing ... just got my 35th anniversary Game and Watch and started playing on it. Excelsior!!

You know, it's odd, I just finished the Second Quest for the very first time earlier this year (as a personal challenge). I had to use maps and walkthroughs, but apparently all I really needed was this video!

This is by far the best Zelda 2nd quest guide I have ever encountered. Even better than the Nintendo Power guide back in the day. Keep up the amazing work.

I turn 43 on Dec. 21 and you have already given me one of the best things ever! I finished the first quest so many times, but always got frustrated with the second quest and now I am going to conquer it once and for all! Thank you very much sir, your content is so awesome!

My man. Excellent choice, as very few took the time as kids to get through it, and never made it back to the second quest as we got older. You're going to make a lot of people happy today. Thank you.

This is quite literally the ONLY walk through channel anyone needs. Your attention to detail in your explanations is incredible. Been playing Nes for over 30 years, and I've learned more from your videos than anywhere else. So much that I didnt know about all these years. Looking forward to what game is coming up next
  • I like how they put at the end “the legend of Zelda 1” like they already knew there be more and had an absolute banger

I remember typing in Zelda thinking I was being funny and then couldn’t figure out why my Zelda strategy guide didn’t match up.
  • @gamerfellow
This channel gives me like...nostalgia for a time bygone. Back when gaming on youtube was still in it's infancy there were channels all over that made content kind of like this, walkthroughs, guides, people showing off their knowledge...it's so...comfy. You got yourself another subscriber and I have got a year's worth of backlog to go through.
  • @YoungBideo
Over the past few months, this became one of my favorite channels on YouTube. Huge fan. Thank you.
  • @justinlaboy6837
I learned something over the years playing this: when fighting Darknuts, if you stay on the lines of the tiles and not on the square tiles themselves, they won't turn toward you and it will be easier to hit them.
