Manyari - A Lioness Risks Everything to Save her Cubs | Wildlife Documentary

Watch 'The Last Lion of the Liuwa Plain' here:    • The Last Lion of the Liuwa Plain | Fr...

Soon after we meet Manyari, Queen of her pride, she does something both unusual and bold. She leaves the sanctuary of the clan with her young cubs and takes them on a dangerous odyssey. She makes a bid to escape because two young bloods are sniffing around, and if they take over the pride, they will kill her cubs. Out in the wilderness, away from the protection of the pride male and without her sister to help her hunt, Manyari is forced to take huge risks. Badly injured, she so nearly pays the ultimate price. The cubs are starving, and wander back dangerously close to the young princes. As Manyari fights for her cubs survival, her every move is shadowed by these marauding nomads. They know she’s out there and they want her back. Yet the exiled Queen: hunter, killer, sister, lover but above all selfless mother, continues to take dangerous risks – to give her cubs a few more precious months of life.

  • Soon after we meet Manyari, Queen of her pride, she does something both unusual and bold. She leaves the sanctuary of the clan with her young cubs and takes them on a dangerous odyssey. The goings-on in a pride remind me of the intrigues and behind-the-scenes fights that went on in a medieval court. Quite fascinating.

I'd like to nominate Manyari for woman of the year

This was filmed in 2012, & Manyari was spotted alive & well in 2020, so she lived many years after this. Not sure if she’s alive today but I do know that in 2020 there was a confirmed sighting of her.
  • Whoever filmed this documentary deserves an international recognition and an outstanding award.💪

Humans can learn from Manyari what it means to be a mother, auntie, huntress, protector, and teacher she is a great lioness and a great mom! Her perseverance is everything! She truly has the heart of a lion and a mother!
  • Manyari is a brave heart and a true warrior lioness and defied the odds to save her young. Glad she survived her injuries and that her sister helped her live on.
  • Amazing lionesses. So glad Manyari survived her injuries.

Manyari was the definition of a true Queen. She was a total boss. A lot of people dont give animals the credit they deserve when it comes to intelligence She was aware of the imminent takeover, knew how it was going to go down and took steps to protect her/the cubs. Thats wisdom. Lions never cease to amaze me. They are by far my fave wild animal. (dogs are my fave domesticated)
  • I root for the lions in almost every scenario. They are such majestic, charismatic creatures.

😢😢tears😢😢 And us humans think we have it bad working 9 to 5 or 12 hr shifts. I could not be an animal filmmaker cuz I’d want to help them. Thank you to those who do and share it with us. 👵🏻👩‍🌾❣️

aww how sweet. her sister found them and took over hunting while she healed ❤
  • Stories like this one are truly amazing, and it goes to show that life in Africa as one of the big cat's is very hard and trying, but this group had all made it into adulthood and truly is one of the great successes!

Love the loyalty and bound between the lion sisters.

Wow…jaw dropping documentary. I love this story. I’m truly inspired and have a deep respect for not only these amazing creatures but the people who created this beautiful documentary that I get to enjoy. Thank you thank you!
  • I like the diversion the sisters ran to give the cubs a chance to run away 🤣. Male lions : time to finish some business 3:< The sister: orrrr 🥰😘 Male lions: what business were we gonna finish? 👀

Manyyari, Bless your soul. The definition of a protective mom can be this was beautiful to watch ❤️‍🔥
  • Manyari was, indeed, a special kind of lioness. She took her cubs, plus a bunch more and raised them to adulthood so the males wouldn't be able to kill them. Just the extra hunting alone is a great accomplishment. But after all that, she returns to her pride of the 2 males who tried to kill all those cubs. That's something I, as a human will never understand. I know it's a separate set of rules for wild animals, but this one is truly bizarre. Thank you 💛 for sharing this beautiful documentary ❤ 🙏.
