WARNING, Disturbing Content.

In 1990, Judas Priest were one of the biggest heavy metal bands in the world. They were also at the center of a national controversy. America in the 90s was in the grip of occult paranoia. One of the band’s songs had been implicated in the deaths of two fans. Judas Priest was about to suffer for the sins of heavy metal music.

  • This is a great video! There arent many great videos about satanic panic and this one was filled with different perspectives!
  • I was fairly young when this went on. Not long prior to, a few teenagers about 20 minutes from my town (my current town nowadays, Carl Junction, MO) decided to “sacrifice” a schoolmate “for Satan”. The story was actually on that same Geraldo special. Beat dude to death w/ baseball bats and threw him down one of the hundreds of old mine pits in our area. I ended up becoming friends with the main aggressor’s brother through work/partying about 15 years later. Oddly enough, one night we were drinking/smoking and he said I reminded him of his brother. By this time I’d become a satanist myself, metal head, pierced and tatted, and even still wear my 2 little sprigs of hair as horns. That’s the night I found out who his brother was. Being under the influence, it took about 5 minutes for it to dawn on me what he’d said and go “wait… what the fuck did u say??” I still find the concept of even believing in, and much more, SACRIFICING for a literal Satan is ridiculous. Of course the teens tried to blame the music and drugs.
  • Every time I see anything about the pmrc I think of hook in mouth by Megadeth 👌👌👌🤙🤙

I was around in this era, this was me. I was a long haired metal head in the 80s. I remember all of this, and it was hilarious. its all so absurd, but let me make a couple of quick hits. Backwards masking was a very big deal, that when we played the rock records backwards we were instructed to _____. Thing is, we weren't playing record backwards. in the 80s, the cassette ruled the market. and I'll close this with, heavy metal and rock & roll never pushed me to harm myself or others. It was the OPPOSITE. Rock and Roll was my outlet, and it kept me from hurting others or myself. All those political dipshits in the 80s did is sell more records for heavy metal and provide endless street cred for Ozzy and Priest.

Americans really take everything to the extreme ahah I always find this kind of amusing, not only fans that murder others in satanic rituals (wtf is that? well... Norway has had its fair share of metal murdering too, crazy northerners) but the government involved in such harassment of music genres just because they sing whatever they want (rock and hip hop specially). When country folks sing about guns and murder is all cool, but put some heavy tattooed white guys making rock songs about it or some black people rapping about it and all hell breaks loose (no pun intended). Is it because there are a lot of people with nothing better to do, so they decide to go after this kind of crap? I just wonder, because here in Europe I don't recall any of this ever happened (like I said earlier, not mentioning Norway but that's some other shit... depression, drugs, etc, like you mentioned in your video also). Sorry for the long comment. not critisizing anything, just amazed how this kind of stuff happens in the USA. Great video BTW, loved to know all about this!
