Rich people are so clueless on what avg person is going through. If you can't afford basic housing, food, health insurance, etc, how the hell can you have a baby?
  • @BatmanBoss
It’s because it was so expensive. The real estate bubble in the 90’s ruined young peoples lives and still is happening
  • @sapperEvO
Two rich guys wondering why people aren’t having kids
  • I've worked with Japanese engineers, they come here from corporate, for a set term of 5-7 years, all expenses paid, housing, utilities, food, live in company owned houses, drive company cars, save their ENTIRE salary, and go home wealthy and semi retired.

With a full Japanese sleeve, Joe only been to Japan for a day
  • @Insaniac969
The fact that Joe went straight to "video games" instead of financial reasons and societal expectations is pretty telling

It's central banking destroying the money. Everyone is working harder and harder, longer and longer for currencies that are being devalued. So now everything is expensive, no feeling of security and a long term future and you have to spend all your time at work.

So…their economy priced them out of all kinds of shit and they’re all depressed and overworked and don’t see the purpose of pro creating solely to create more miserable “live to serve” offspring. Sounds very similar to your average working Americans current feelings about the state of the country. Many similar views. I guess Japans birth rate is what we have to look forward to in the United States.

When I was with the US Navy in Japan they actually told us during our initial briefing not to stop and help Japanese people who have accidents or medical crises. The way they explained it was that Japan does not have good Samaritan laws and that you have no legal protection if you try to provide first aid to someone. In fact, if you make some kind of mistake and make the situation worse, you can actually be prosecuted. They told us to mind our own business and leave it to the medical professionals. Same thing for getting involved in someone else's dispute. If you see someone getting beat down or abused, call the cops but otherwise mind your own business. It seems strange, but Japan is a different culture. after all, and has different standards.
  • @Naijahoy
Joe is clueless 😂 this population collapse is WORLD WIDE
  • @maitreyas.4902
They expect corporate employees to work 14 hours a day.
  • @Laocoon283
You think japan is bad you need to look at South Korea
  • @Pareidolic
Not sure why everyone keys on Japan, South Korea actually has an even lower birthrate, and a number of other countries in East Asia and Europe have similar birthrates. This is not just a "Japan" thing, this is a thing in developed, modern societies.

As an American living in Yokohama… I think people here don’t seem to want to be responsible for much more than themselves. Financially and personally. If they think they can’t afford it or they work too long to be able to spend time on their kid they just won’t have any. If they can pay rent and enjoy their life they will be reluctant to add additional stress and responsibilities.

I lived in Tokyo in the late 90's they got hit hard by their real estate bubble. All a sudden Japanese women wanted to date me when just a year or two before that would have never happened. They actually have a "lost generation" of people that never got a chance to get a job/career that still affects Japan deeply all these years later. I saw some suffering, not a lot but I could definitely see a difference from "everything's great" to "everything is not so great" almost over night.
  • @ghfudrs93uuu
The one thing Japan ain't doing is "asking people to go there" I don't think they even want niseis
  • @davidortega3393
Rampage is actually onto something with the rejection idea. Japanese culture is very much about not failing publicly, and if you do, you take very dramatic action (Iykyk). It’s very likely that many Japanese men give up on dating after a few rejections and become shut ins afterwards. That probably makes Japanese women more jaded about dating as well.
  • @Jonathon10
Japanese people just don’t have babies irresponsibly. They actually think about the future and their ability to care for the child
