One of the rare Godzilla movies that transcends from being not only a great Godzilla movie but a great movie in general. It's one of my favorites of the year.

Godzilla Minus One is the movie American studios wish they made this year - looks great, reasonable budget, strong story and characters, and part of a storied franchise.
  • This literally might be my favorite movie of the year, it is genuinely fantastic. Can't believe it was made for 15 million

This movie blew me away, and I’m going back to see it again in AMC prime tonight… The sound design was a force that had me on the edge of my seat, especially for the last act. Hoping and praying that Hollywood can find a way to deliver this kind of cinematic glory on smaller budgets like the 15 million budget for this one. 9/10🎉

Godzilla made Hollywood movies look like toy commercials. It is more intense and emotionally engaging than the best of the late 70s blockbusters. Only a Hollywood advertorial agent would downplay the strength of this movie.

Saw the movie last night (saw a 9:30pm EST viewing) and it was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!! At almost 51 years of age I have seen every Godzilla film released (use to even watch the 1978 Saturday morning cartoon) and Minus One is hands down and bar none THE BEST GODZILLA MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN (zero exaggeration)‼️‼️ A Kaiju movie masterpiece IMO No disrespect to the monsterverse (I enjoy Legendary Godzilla too), but Toho just reminded EVERYONE that Godzilla is THEIR monster and that nobody (and I mean nobody) can do Godzilla better than they can. 👍

I've seen 25 out of 37 of the Godzilla movies. This was the best one I've seen.

See, this is how you make a movie. $15M budget, well written and well executed. It should have no issue being a hit at the box office and not only recover its investment, but turn out a good profit. Big studios need to rethink how they’re making movies and tanking the industry along with their current model. No need to fluff a crappy script with expensive FX, to the point that the movie has no chance at the box office.

I saw it for the second time tonight. Both times the theater applauded at the end. Everyone was raving about it walking out
  • Life Long Godzilla fan here of 47 years. It is truly amazing to see the general moviegoers support for this film. Especially with all the ups and downs this franchise has had. I love seeing all the positive comments. Thank you all for giving this film a chance. And thank YOU Mr. Murrell for your review.

I'm so happy to see all the love for this movie! I live it in Japan and saw it on release day here and was blown away! Definitely one of my favourites of the year!

GODZILLA MINUS ONE had a budget of $15 million and looks this good. Meanwhile, Hollywood is spending $200 m - $350 m per movie and losing bank in 2023. Maybe they should try to lock down a good screenplay and plan out VFX in advance and quit trying to rewrite movies in post and rush them out before they're ready.

THIS needs to win some academy awards. Great flick! I was smiling the entire movie

I've seen a few other rave reviews from trusted critics. The budget shouldn't matter, but yes, hard not to be struck by a high-quality blockbuster like This being turned out for a relatively meagre $15m. If true, Hollywood should take note of both how to deliver awesome but cheap effects, and, more importantly, what well-written characters who Aren't played by globally known names bring to the table. All the best to this film for a very successful run - I want to see it.

This movie absolutely blew me away. My mom who hates monster movies even loved it.

Just got out of the theatre. The best Godzilla movie I’ve ever seen. Crazy Good. Even cried a little.

It’s a high SEE IT NOW for me. My favorite of the year by far. He didn’t even talk about the impressive destruction Godzilla does. I was in awe. Best blockbuster In decades I’d even go as far as to say.
  • @CannonKnight
I had to google why it's called Godzilla Minus One, with the title meaning Japan was at a state of zero after the war, and Godzilla took it to minus one. It only seems appropriate for Godzilla to be a very personal Japanese story.

Got to see it in IMAX last night, and it is excellent! One of the best of the year
  • @charvolth
Saw it on Wednesday and loved it. Possibly my favorite film of the year as of now. I honestly would cheer it on if it was submitted for best foreign film at the academy's this year.
