My experience with being taxed on dividends

Published 2023-03-09
no matter whether you withdraw or reinvest them, you're taxed on your dividend income in your brokerage accounts every year because the boiz at the IRS consider it just that—income. 🥲

crucially, since most people set their dividends to reinvest, they may not actually have the cash on hand—so it's good to be prepared for it!

your 1099-DIV forms will outline your dividend totals. 🤓

Thank you, alot of people praise Income Dividends but don't talk about taxation

It would be great to have flat tax and not progressive, for ordinary dividend

Mine are in my 401k which are tax deffered and i dont THINK I'll get hit with taxes when i finally cash out or pull out, but i PLAN to primarily live off dividends when i retire or later in life

The holding period requirement to make a qualified dividend is unnecessary: the Form 1099 given to you by your brokerage at will classify all your dividends as Qualfied at the end of the year, whether you held for 61+days or not

As a Nonresident alien having to pay 30% tax on dividends but 0% on capital gains, is it better to focus on growth stocks rather than dividends? 😕

That is why dividends are so tax inefficient. Another case in favor of investment options that use their earnings to invest and grow their business instead of paying it as dividends. You channel is awesome!

I like it. It’s good to think this way. You must be making bank to be in those tax brackets 💸💸 We do dividend investing on my channel as well!

But what about the gains from none dividend paying stocks you are holding? You would be taxed zero on those correct?

Place these dividend payers in an IRA account
