Just me, live and acoustic. 👊😎
About this track:
Every bedroom musician had a quarantine song, and this was mine. Originally meant to be the title track of a 2020 EP, "distance" relates the isolation, trepidation, and truth-searching of the pandemic (and the BS of the election year) to one of the worst stretches of a drive I've ever had to make - I-49 through Louisiana, between Baton Rouge and Shreveport, in the middle of the night. This, after starting the drive in Alabama and ultimately ending in north Texas at 3 am.
Lyrics:
How far behind is Baton Rouge?
How close are we to home?
Have we found the narrow road?
Or is it nothing more than Rome?
Are we closer to a cure?
Does this thing exist at all?
Feels like I can't trust a soul
That's not within these walls
Despite the miles we've driven
The view seems not to change
The same restaurants and houses
Just subtly rearranged
Cold civil war is thawing
But not fast enough to see
Praying I can get us home
If I only just believe
More to come! Deo Gratias.
