Legendary Megadeth founder Dave Mustaine joined Johnny Doom on a bench backstage at Download Festival 2022 for a chat about everything from their new album 'The Sick, The Dying… and The Dead!' being "really really aggressive", to Dave's recovery from cancer, his love for Cliff Burton's bass playing ability and his disdain for certain big bands who lip sync: "If you can play it live, you're being f---ing lazy!"... 👀

  • I was a driver for Megadeth once. I was warned that Dave can be a bit cranky and to watch my driving lol. Him and the other band members were super cool. He even thanked me for the ride which not many celebrity artists do. Thank YOU for decades of music Dave 🤘

Cliff was fantastic. And he was a very deep, deep bass player as far as talent goes. - Dave Mustaine (on Cliff Burton).

Dave is a hard worker. He came a long way. He earned his spot in the music scene. Respect!!!
  • The new single is an ASS KICKER. This the most positive interview I've seen with Dave. Still at the top of his game. Good on ya

Dave’s brought a lot of music to this world. I enjoy listening to him speak these days and his book is fantastic. Especially the part about redemption. Love it…..
  • Who would have thought Dave, back in the day would still be touring aged 60. He’s an underrated lyricist in Rock music in general

So happy to see Mustaine good and still riffing at 60. Thanks for the interview. May he tours for the many years to come !
  • Dave's voice, energy and attitude is like we're back in time. So good to see him having a new album and something to say 🤘
  • I really cringe when interviewers ask why did it take so much to make the album in a such aggressive manner like “we deserve an album, why didn’t you lazy bastard make us an album faster?!” While they never even mention or consider Dave had cancer…
  • Can't wait for full album in September!! Dave's rocken it!! People say you Can't be Christian and play Metal Well... Dave Mustaine does!! Love Megadeth!!

Dave Mustaine is one of my all time favorite persons, he has the x factor and he knows it. There is nothing wrong about that at all. I think most people downtalk him because of rumours and hearsay. They don't get the whole point as to why he does what he does. If you want to make it in this business, you kinda have to be hard, have an ego, and all this be nice to people does NOT cut it at all.. Stand your ground, do what you want to and don't care what others think about you and your music.
  • My all time favorite guitar player, my all time favorite musician! 🤘🤘✌️
  • I was there watching when a huge jet flew over the stage, into the direction of the crowd at the beginning of Megadeths set that Dave mentions here. It was INSANE.
