To the last story: Amazon has had a similar program to FLEX in Germany for years now. The drivers also use unmarked Vans and can't directly be identified as Amazon drivers. And still, no one has been shot - seems like it's more of a US problem than a general one.

For the fusion story: It was 1.9x the energy delivered to target, *not* the system as a whole. That's still a long way off.

In the ever changing tech news environment, I can always count on one thing to keep me anchored… Apple doing something and Riley doing a funny impression, every time, without fail.

For those who didn't want to calculate it. 3563 sec = 59min and 23 sec. You're welcome.

That scroll reading algorithm stuff is so cool. Talk about the right to repair! Those scrolls have been out of warranty for almost 2000 years.

Amazon cares more about delivery drivers than they do about the workers in their warehouses, because if they lose a worker in a warehouse, they haven't lost any products or shipments. If they lose a driver, they lose a whole vehicle-load of shipments

TSMC wants to keep their best tech in Taiwan as incentive for other countries to ensure their protection. (The silicon shield)

APPLE?! OPEN-SOURCING A THING!? I never thought I'd see the day! EDIT: actually no, they have been open-sourcing things. Swift, Webkit, actually yeah most of their dev tools.
  • 9:02 in Lithuania when a courier is about to visit, you receive an automated SMS and call when the courier is nearby, why amazon can't follow this?

To clarify that bit about the fusion reactor -- yes, the reactor did produce 1.9x the amount of energy that the little internal pellet was blasted with, but the external energy used to create the laser blast that vaporized that little pellet was something like 5x as much power. So the net loss is still quite a lot. But it is progress -- the 2022 experiment only produced 1.2x internally. Going from 1.2x to 1.9x a great step forward. But still not a net positive, unfortunately.

The authors of that wargame paper really distorted the outcome by putting the results on a log scale so that the 1% nuclear war outcome looks almost as big as the 30% deescalation outcome
  • @alepouna
the 4:14 segment about fixing it forever got my rolling, good job Jessica/Riley whoever came up with that
  • Omg the beginning of this video has a audio overlay of a very deep bass rumble, I'm watching it in my car and it is shaking my brain
  • @clebbington

  • @Ringularity

Please add a high pass filter automatically as part of your workflow process! I love watching LTT on my TV and this one made my whole house vibrate from whatever low frequency sound that is in the background.
