Ghost jobs should be illegal. Very demoralizing for job seekers.
  • @SilverLinin_
The fact you have to go through all of this JUST to live. Is ridiculous on it's own. beyond broken society.

"We're hiring" now days means if you like making enough to live with your parents or 3-5 room mates, we got a job for you!

The worst time to look for work is when you need a job.
  • @FangerZero
I think any company found listing a ghost job should be fined $500k

manager: “why should i hire you?” applicant: “because you’re hiring…?”👀

Managers hire previous employees and employee referrals. Eliminates 98% of hopeful applicants.

I literally have mental breakdowns looking for a job, until I come across posts like this and I’m glad I’m not alone. I got a BA degree and have been looking for a job over a year, hoping to get out of my underpaid job, since the cost of living keeps increasing. It’s never taken me this long to find a job, so I’m stuck barely making ends meet until something better comes along.

If you are in college now, please understand that you are not there to get an education. You are there to develop a network of people you know and alumni who can help you with these kinds of things

Tip for job seekers: beware of "recruiters" offering to find you a job. Their business model is to build up their repertoire of candidates using your resumes to make themselves attractive to companies who will hire them to do the work of filling job openings. But many of these recruiters are just incompetent hacks trying to build up their portfolio and really have no job lined up for you specifically. Even worse, they may try to stuff you in a role that is lucrative for them to fill but not great for you. You may want to work with one or two during your career, but just be aware they do NOT work for you and do not have your interests as their focus. As Vincent said, your best route is to find a contact inside the company you can use.

After getting laid off from my first full time job last April, it's been a struggle since. Although I've been getting interviews lately, I still fell short of a job offer. The competition is just unreal right now.
  • @TonyGue
Everytime i hear politicians say "unemployment is at an all time low" when that is a blantant lie and extremely misleading
  • This ghosting trend has reached meteoric levels. I have a solid resume and interview really well, but what I have experienced lately is bizarre. I've had several interviews that exceeded the one hour time slot by like thirty + minutes because the hiring manager thought we had such a great connection. I'm referring to hiring managers appearing so laid back that they began talking about their hobbies, passions, and things we have in common. Next steps were followed up the "you'll definitely be hearing from me next week for a face to face meeting, etc." Next week comes around and all I get is complete radio silence! Not even an email response from the hiring manager or the recruiter. Everything goes to voice mail right away. I feel sorry for people in between jobs who need to pay bills. My situation is different because I have some serious bank with zero bills on my plate, so I can play this game for a long time.

Applied to 600 jobs in the past 3 weeks. Literally applying to every job that comes out in my area + remote + relocation.

Finding a job, life partner, affordable property... you name it. Everything looks to be out of your reach and serms to be a luxury not a life basic.
  • If an application requires a previous salary, i always put 0.00 because it is none of their business how much previois employers have paid me and as you mentioned, they will use it against me. I wish more people knew this information

Economy is dying housing market is crashing, rental market unaffordable, jobs are almost impossible to find
  • @Yasmine91646
Not only is it impossible to get a job, it’s almost impossible to find one that will pay you enough to buy a damn house! If you’re not a scientist, doctor, engineer, or in finance then you can say goodbye to buying a house
