Thanks dude! Me and a friend played Matrimelee for the first time, and I was confused by the familiar faces from when I'd played Rage of the Dragons in the past. This series is pretty damn niche, so finding retrospective stuff on it was something I was worried I wouldn't be able to do, but this nailed it! Certainly interested in exploring more of the series!

Gouketsuji Legends is easily the franchise’s peak, and my favorite. Here’s to that new Gouketsuji rumors going around!

A collection of this series with power instinct, power instinct 2, power instinct Legends, groove on fight, matrimelee, power instinct worldly desires and power instinct 5 the ancestor memorial for ps4/5, switch and pc

Man, Matrimelee is one of my favorite games to this day. The Power Instinct series never really caught on, but Matrimelee is just so good.

I can see why it never caught on when SF 2/MK/Killer Instinct were the standard at the time. Also Bushido Blade was supposedly the counter strike of fighting games also at that time, though I never personally got into it.
  • well atlus evolved into like persona so they cant keep remaking the obscure games anymore, so thats why they possibly sold power instinct to noise factory
  • The single player arcade is just unplayable due to the impossible difficulty...same goes for power instinct 2... that's a pity because the combat engine is very fun. At least all the sequels are more balanced and enjoyable. The genesis version is the better port but I prefer the snes version, the slowest gameplay and lower difficulty makes it more accessible for a casual gamer like me.
