Hi Joel! Japanese speaker here, ヒカリイカ is directly translated into English as “Light” and “Squid”, which is accurate enough! The グロースクイッド (1:47) is just the phonetic spelling of “Glow Squid”, but in katakana (カタカナ). Literally said out loud as gu-roー su-ku-i(kk, which is basically a pause/shortening thing)-do, AKA glow squid in a Japanese accent.

i've watched joel for YEARS now, so i'm well adjusted to his energy, and i never truly thought about how he may appear to new viewers who are used to other hermits, and having someone say HE'S ON THE VERGE OF MANIA is the funniest thing ever i cannot get over that

I dunno if someone's told Joel this, but waxing signs (making them uneditable) will help tremendously with reducing lag! You might want to go bother Xisuma or someone else who has Bees.
