South Africa has its share of issues but for many people that end up emigrating, SA is still better than the troubles they experience abroad.

Just spent the past 7 years in Australia! As soon as we had the opportunity we came back. The corruption is everywhere! More insidious there though! It’s still a country of convicts & their jailers!! The mentality is mind blowing. We couldn’t wait to come back home - warts and all, there’s no place like South Africa

Living abroad is clearly not for everyone...but it is what you make of it. If you expect the same Table mountain to stare you in your face every morning from your 1 bed flat in Bromley, or you expect to have all your family around you every weekend for a braai, (thank God that's not the case) or if you think Clifton's 4th beach is the be all and end all of all beaches, then maybe its best to live in SA. You clearly have not been to the Balearic Islands or South of France or Madeira. let alone St Ives in Cornwall. Those places are amazing and you can get a flight for a cheap as it is to fly to lovely Joburg. So, yes, cape town is very unique, with very friendly people...but so are the British(Just buy them a pint to find out how jolly they can get) and many other cultures you find in the UK.
