RIP Lionel Blair, the mime master himself.
-
I’ve always thought the pinnacle of any bit of comedy is being able to make Barry Cryer laugh- the man who has seen it all and written for everyone.
-
I think it was Jim Broadbent who said he would get out of a warm bath to switch off The Archers but stay in a cold one to listen to the end of an ISIHAC episode. Never have I agreed with someone so completely.

Always come back to this when I need a laugh. Nevil Shute gets me every time.

The Nevile Shute joke is without doubt one of the most perfect comedy moments in radio history. It’s form, delivery and reaction are just perfect. Everything comes together in millisecond timing. Also, the fact that this comedy moment would be almost impossible and too complicated to explain to , say, an American and yet, it’s genius is it’s simplicity. You cannot predict the punchline till it lands. I confess to never have heard of Mr Shute, but will never forget him now. The genius of Iain Pattison, the masterly delivery of Lyttleton, everything falls into place.

Lionel Blair, RIP Humphrey Littleton, RIP Tim Brooke-Taylor, RIP
-
Humph delivered these lines so coldly and innocently whilst the rest of us peed ourselves and had to call the St. Johns ambulance to assist with pains in the sides from continual laughter........bless them and RIP Dear Tim B-T 😢

Nothing beats this. Nothing. Laughter solves evrerything.
-
Neville Schute on Lionels face . That's when I fell on the floor laughing.
-
I'm sure I heard Barry Cryer exclaim "oh dear" at least twice. If you can make dirt this clever then you have a claim to a seat at the hight table. R.I.P. Mr Lyttleton, there is still a hole where you were, and one that Lionel could never fill, despite trying his hardest
-
Neville Shute in Lionel's face!!! - you owe me for a new laptop
-
Come back to this after hearing the news
-
He managed to get away with those on BBC Radio 4 purely by looking completely innocent as he delivered those lines. He even looked puzzled at the audience's reactions. Genius. Sadly missed.
-
Poor old Lionel, RIP. To his credit he took it without complaint from the whole team for more than thirty years.
-
RIP Lionel Blair. A great entertainer, and the undisputed master of the game.
-
I watched part of this today - having never really heard of any of these people - with the remarkable coincidence that Lyttleton was one of the answers in the Financial Times Crowssword today.
-
Excellent collection!

So so funny. Two gentlemen from Verona - the longest audience laugh
-
There is always one of these that will always stick in my mind. Lionel Blair not being able to use his mouth, to finish off The two gentlemen of Verona.
