KISS started out as a heavy "glam" band when they changed from Wicked Lester to KISS onstage one night. They did have a sizable New York group of hardcore fans, some of whom cherished that early version of KISS, and when "Destroyer" came out, they were outraged at the commercial direction.

Great episode, gents. Very informative and enjoyable.

Tygers of Pan Tang covered "Love Potion No. 9" .

Aleskansdr Frick is 100% on point.

Isn’t there an incentive to not go to the RIAA for recertification because an artist or band might have to share already claimed royalties once real sales numbers are revealed?
-
All 3 what is your opinion on shinedown and nickleback?

Damn I missed the livestream. My question is a two parter. When will the Contrarians do an Adam & the Ants video of praise and influence? I saw a few times when a few panelists have hinted at Adam Ant love. Then, Martin do you ever listen to an album purely for the excellent drumming. You don’t necessarily have to love the band but you can actually sit through the whole album just concentrating on the drumming. I always challenge people to “concentrate on the drumming even if you don’t like Adam Ant and you will at least appreciate it on that level.” What could be more contrarian that doing a video on Adam Ant? Maybe even a panel of 6 Adam Ant fans and 6 non fans that spend a week with his best albums and then a chat follows.

First off, KISS of The 1970s ROCKS! And always will!! Second... Physical Media all the way!! Screw streaming. All you people selling off your CDs and LPs, have at it... more for us. I myself "greatly" enjoy the physical process of handling and playing physical media. The covers, booklets, CDs, records, photos ....and that essential physical link to the music. To me it's like having sex with a girl (or whoever for all the rest of you), vs. jackin' it to some pictures. Or really, not even pictures in some cases. Ot not physically playing guitar or drums.. So, go on and trust your invisible music and stream on like 6 year olds. I will say that its convenient, and i do it "now and again," when checking out some new music or studying it, whatever. It's convenient and useful for that. But man, you either truly LOVE music or you don't. And not 'just" the music. I mean everything about it. See above.

KISS was absolutely stunning and AWESOME in the 1970s. And they kicked ASS live as well. This guy below, to sit there and pick on "Kissin' Time" is just stupid, and comes off strangely angry for no reason. I could sit here and list every last great KISS song from 1973-1979, but that would be a long list. Ahhhhhh, F*** it, I'll do it anyway: Strutter Nothing To Lose Firehouse Cold Gin Deuce 100,000 Years Black Diamond Got To Choose Parasite Goin' Blind Hotter Than Hell All The Way Watchin' You Coming Home Strange Ways Two Timer Ladies In Waiting Getaway Rock Bottom C'mon and Love Me She Love Her All I Can Rock and Roll All Nite Detroit Rock City King of The Nighttime World God Of Thunder Flaming Youth Sweet Pain Do You Love Me I Want You Take Me Calling Dr. Love Ladies Room Baby Driver Love 'Em and Leave 'Em Mr. Speed See You In Your Dreams Makin' Love I Stole Your Love Christine Sixteen Got Love For Sale Shock Me Love Gun Almost Human Rocket Ride All American Man The ENTIRE Ace Frehley Solo Album! Half of Paul's And yeah, Half of Gene's I Was Made For Loving You Dirty Livin' Charisma Magic Touch Hard Times Save Your Love There, how's that? And I did that quickly, off the top of my head...so, yeah, I'm an original Kiss Army member ('76), and well experienced to know! And btw, "Tomorrow and Tonight" is a good song. The verses kick ass and the Ace Frehley Solo is excellent as well. Martin is on point about KISS making excellent, fresh and unique music at that time. With or without the make up, the music still ROCKS and never gets old. And I am a Total, eclectic Rock fan... BOWIE, Sabbath, Zep, K.Bush, Deep Purple, AC/DC, Priest, T. Rex, Iron Maiden, The Cure, The Who, Zappa, Stones, Beatles, ZZ Top of the 70s, Cars, Yes, Lizzy, UFO, Saxon, Joni Mitchell, Jeff Beck, , etc., etc. Marc ⚡

Kiss' sound never matched the image. Kiss to me has some good songs, but crap like Kissing Time too. I own all their 70s stuff, so can definitely make a good judgement.
