  • I am now on my 4th round of attempting my bell peppers in seed starting soil indoors....the 1st 3 attempts never worked so now I am resorting to the zip lock/wet paper towel method and I now see a bit of growth after 4 days! Finally found something that works for ME. Zone 8

Only thing I'm going to say is that most videos that come out for growing peppers tend to ignore there are southern states where you can direct seed outdoors, or at the MOST start seed in a tray and then direct plant outdoors because it will be warm enough for peppers. If needed you can speed up the heating of the soil using black tarp so that both the soil and air temp are ready for peppers in mid Apr and you don't have to fuss too much with most of this indoor stuff. Or you can even wait to plant outdoors because the growing season is long, getting into Oct.

I watched your video on growing onions from an onion top. I'm on day 3 right now and I'm starting to see new roots and some green on the top. Also, I planted pepper seeds along with other veggies 2 days ago. Thanks for the videos they're great!
  • @MarkFaust

Dude you're awesome! I'm attempting my first time growing on my own and this helped big time...thanks man!
  • Thank u ive just followed yr instructions n done my seedings 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
  • I'm sharing cuz I almost screwed up and this might help some people. I was about to give up on my pepper seeds. Thank goodness I tagged them with the date sowed. I swore it was taking forever. I was about to dump them and start over. I looked at the tag and it was only 7 days. And they just started to pop up on the 8th day. Duh! I should mention I soaked the seeds in a wet paper towel for a week prior to sowing in the cells. That's probably why it seemed long. Tag your seed cells.

Great video Jeff! We just planted our peppers last weekend, too. Spring is coming, my friend!
  • I've got mine started already for next year. I'm wondering if anyone else starts theirs this early to grow over the winter and put a full-sized, fruiting plant out in the spring. It's kind of akin to wintering over a mature plant. I've been starting earlier each year, until I'm at the point now, where I start them around October 14. I still start my tomato seeds at Christmas, but root cuttings in October as well. Does anyone else do this?!
  • I am in New Jersey. I want to start growing cayenne pepper. I don't have fancy set up. I will start in February and keep them by my radiator
