MTG Emergency Ban Hits Modern Horizons 3 Before It's Even Released

Someone the other day asked me "Whats the most powerful card" Obviously the credit card.

if Cranial Plating is already banned in Pauper, it should come as no surprise to anyone that Cranial Ram is banned. They could have printed Cranial Ram at Uncommon to avoid this problem, but I think it's fine to preban it.

“Emergency” banning implies an unforseseen exception. Bannings like this are unfortunately all too common these days.

They specifically mentioned they might have to preban an affinity card several weeks ago but they still wanted it in the common slot. I guess this was the card they were talking about. I don't see any issues here.

This banning seems reasonable. I feel like a bit of the Magic community forget that not everything is about their chosen format. I remember a while back another content creator was complaining about a new "commander" that was printed (don't remember the exact reason). It was a legendary creature printed in a set, not a commander printed in a commander set/precon, and "legendary" isn't exclusive to commander. Not every common is designed for pauper, not every legendary is designed for commander, and, clearly, not every MH3 card is designed for modern. That last one is a big 🤦

... Commander still has a ban committee? twf they need to actually unban some stuff.

You asked about the audio. I'm not sure if it's the space you're recording in or digitally added, but the delay of the reverb on your voice is set a bit too far out, which leads to a disconcerting "doubling" of your voice at times. If it's the space you're recording in, this can be prevented with acoustic padding on your walls strategically placed at the point of reflection. If it's your digital reverb, you can shorten the delay on it and add a stronger decay to it to mitigate these issues. Changing to either a wireless earpiece microphone like you see at large conferences or a boom configuration cardioid microphone can also mitigate this issue if it's an echo in your recording space, but that's ultimately a much more drastic solution only to be explored if acoustic padding is untenable.

All the MH3 bans were expected. The Flare Cycle, Winter Moon, and Harbinger of the Tides were obviously going to be banned in Historic; WoTC has made it clear that they don't want free spells or land hosers in the format. Disruptor Flute is a better Sorcerous Spyglass; which is already banned in Brawl. Cranial Ram is just Plating with Living Weapon, and Plating is already banned in Pauper.

That cranial ram might not be too bad in my prosper deck. Making a lot of treasure tokens should beef that thing up nicely.
