About Fences: Some people build fences to keep people out - and other people build fences to keep people in. Academy Award winner® Denzel Washington and Academy Award nominee® Viola Davis deliver the year’s most powerful performances in the film adaptation of August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Fences. Set in 1950s Pittsburgh, the film takes a passionate look at former Negro-league baseball player Troy Maxson (Washington) as he fights to provide for those he loves in a world that threatens to push him down. Washington’s directorial triumph pulses with the universal truths of love, forgiveness, and happiness despite what lies beyond your own fence.

Her monologue is the best and most eloquent explanation of why infidelity is wrong. The feelings she expresses and the points she makes are all so incredibly true and real.

This movie was very deep. And this scene right here was the icing on the cake for me. Viola and Denzel did the thing and Denzel directing it was 👍

The acting is just beautiful it’s pure joy. It’s just incredible and unfortunately a lost art in this day and age.. thankyou to these two wonderful actors.
  • Near the end of this video when Troy tightly grabbed Rose's arm to the point where she is saying "Troy you're hurting me" Cory ran out and pushed his father away to the gate defending his mother. At that point I was proud of Cory ... I probably would've done the same thing. Troy was so DAMN!!! selfish throughout the film regarding his needs that he completely forgot about Rose and her needs in which she left no stone unturned telling him.
