If you've been abused long-term, you may also come across as inauthentic, because you've learned to fear just about everything, especially other people.

I had always heard about off the charts chemistry in movies and books, but had never experienced it. When I met him, I felt this intense feeling I'd never felt before. It was an unease and a sense of darkness, he was smiling but I felt no warmth from him. I thought that's what the chemistry is supposed to feel like. I later learned I was sensing his emptiness, that my subconscious was detecting danger, but at the time I had no clue. There was no lovebombing or future faking. I think he was showing more psychopathic traits.

better to cut off someone early than cut them off too late. life is too short to waste your time on people who don’t respect, appreciate and value you. trust your gut if someone or something makes you feel uneasy. cheers from southern ontario, canada 🍁

And you don't know why or what it is. You are right. The sirens going off inside and me ignoring it.
  • go with your gut feelings & your mind telling you ...be careful, go slow no fast impulsive commitment or fellowship
  • As the parent of his children, I pushed my intuition down on too many occasions and distrusted it. I'm so glad I'm back to fully trust what it's telling me!

Spot on. Your intuition was telling you they were inauthentic and you had to walk on eggshells around them.

Been through this with the narcissist. She always put me down, devaluing me, belittling and humiliating me to the point even the kids laughed at me when she did this

This is gold. Wish I could’ve heard these words of wisdom many many years ago. Would have saved a ton of heartache

As a side note, i couldn't understand why my cat would hide as far and deep as possible in my storage room to avoid her. His sensitivity was spot on. Now i trust him even more in spotting her emptyness.

When you have fo do that fornyour entire childhood and young adult life because you were raised with some... you can imagine what that does to ones brain and body. The cognitive dissonance it takes to continue in a relationship with bio fam narcs is insane.
