I just thought I would make a video on how I cased our windows and trimmed them out, this is about as simple as it gets. This could be a good method for you aren't sure you want to do it yourself.

Not bad , looks a lot better than just sheet rock return. I always build a window stool makes for a lot fancier looking job. Next time if you're going to trim your windows that way cut everything to fit fasten it all together ( prefab it ) then just place them in the window and nail your trim to the wall. If you have several windows it will save you some time. Good luck and well done job

Nice simple job. Regarding nailing the side trim pieces (around 5:04) I have seen some videos suggest that a small nail (like you used) is best for the inside (attaching the side face piece to the edge of the side leg of the casing) but a longer, thicker nail should be used on the outside of the trim where you are nailing through the trim piece and drywall into the stud underneath. Dunno if it makes much of a difference, just thought I'd mention it.
