  • i live for your updates!!! Also i've gotten to the point where I've taken so many genetics classes if you've ever got more science-y genetics questions I hope I can answer them. There's also SNPedia where you can upload your DNA information. You're still the coolest person that I know that actually pursues all this information you're for real a detective.

Just came across your video hope you found the answers you are looking for. Love

Did you ever get more answers on if they were a cousin or a sibling? Super interesting story. I'm adopted too so I understand the need to put the puzzle together :)
  • @iamme6773
I'm not adopted, but my grandmas sister married my grandpas brother, so my dad and those first cousins are more " related " than their other first cousins.
  • Well. I found out Christmas day . My sister is only a half sister. As we had 1800cm.. I had two first cousins things turn up in my DNA that my sister didn't . They were father and daughter He had 1340 cm and she 692 cm. It means either the mans father is my father or his uncle. Worse my mum lied to me to her dying day 60yrs. She should have told me. I thought my dad was my dad that died 12 days before I was born. I can remember having nightmares when I was 3 or 4 yrs old realising my dad had died. I couldn't breathe. What a lie my mom spanned out. I have to figure it out but my new relatives have gone quiet .

So I randomly came across your video and have some information that might help you. Did you know that when calculating a relationship through DNA that relationships are ROUNDED DOWN and not up? What does that mean? If your results show someone is a 1st cousin theirs a possibility they are a half siblings of a parent and not full sibling of your parent. Someone who shows up as 2nd cousin could actually be a 1st cousin. Depending on where you are with your searches maybe I could help you with some tips best of luck to you on your searches.

I'm currently in the same situation. Cousin or half-brother? Thanks for the pointers. We need an answer.
  • I want to know how much CM you would share with someone who was both your sibling and cousin. In other words let's say two siblings shared the same mom but different dads. However their dad's are siblings making them cousins on their dad side but siblings on thier mother side. I imagine you would share normal CM then a regular half sibling. Probably would share as much CM as some people who are full sibling.
  • @bennewman4675
Why do we share more DNA with parents then half siblings. ? Do we share more DNA with grandparents. Then half siblings as well ?
  • @latonya4754
If you don't mind me asking what was her cm?
  • @liseoikle2484
Hi i m in the same place my match came up 1693 i am wondering if she my half sister my full sister is 2553
  • @TheSilverPlague
Umm if she’s to high to be your first cousin she’s your most likely sister. We’re you born during his marriage?
  • @lbfaith
Same. I wanna find out if my half sister is my cousin. Cuz my uncle mentioned being with her mom around the time my father was with her while he was with my mom. Cheater cheaters.
  • I don’t understand what is wrong with these people. Why is it so hard to help you out? Jealousy? You can come be my sister! 💜 Wish you the best of luck! I would want my answer too and you have a right to that! He’s obviously an asshole though!
