Reposition to Remoteness, A trip through the Beautiful Forgotten Lands. Destination Adventure

Published 2024-06-22
If you are touring the West Coast of North America, you will be able to access the coastline almost anywhere, until you hit Canada. There is no coast road in Canada, and there are actually very few roads or towns to even access the ocean. I have always loved the NorthCoast, because if youre willing to drive a little, you can visit and enjoy several of our few coastal towns, each with such different history and views.

Stewart has been a destination for several years now, because it is a town with basically endless adventure, and given the opportunity, of course I will take the back route there. The Cranberry connector is a beautiful little side tour, that takes you through the Nass Valley and right through the Lava Beds. This section alone is worth the extra time, but I am quite sure you will enjoy the full trip.

Coming out onto highway 37, you only have a short drive before turning onto 37A and dropping down into Stewart, but if time allows, a night at Meziadin Lake is very nice. Pushing forwards, km after km you will be greeted by spectacular views, but the highlight for sure will be Bear Glacier. This is, of course, until it has receded out of sight. Each year I visit Stewart, the Bear Glacier climbs a little further up the mountain. This is a sad reality that I will witness throughout my lifetime, but not one that I can change, so lets not dwell on that.

Dropping down into Stewart, BC is always a delight. It is a quaint little mining town, that has seemed to boom and bust a number of times, but never looses its spirit. The locals are friendly, the history is rich, the views are plentiful and the ocean is too. I hope you enjoy this visit with me, and I hope you get to visit one day yourself as well.

It's none of my business if you and Emi are "together", but it's lovely to see you two together having the time of your life like this. I look forward to seeing more!
  • I wish Youtube had a “❤️” option instead of just “like”. Every. Single. Week! Beautiful scenery. You make me need to travel north from Oregon. I love Emi’s reactions to your goofy stuff you do, too. So cute😊

  • Dustin and Emi, your videos refresh this weary soul of mine. Don't ever stop chasing your dreams, filming your journeys, and always keep your passions in view as you live life. Doing what you love doing is what really matters, and it shows in your vids. Thanks for cheering me, and for the gorgeous scenery. ❤

The only major problem with your videos is that time goes by too fast when watching them. ❤️

That was some of the best glacier footage I've ever seen.
  • Thanks again for sharing my brother in law and I watch this every week. We decided you should have a “Do it for the dungees” shirt with your logo.
  • When I lived on the Yukon River in Alaska, when I would fish a pair of Foxes would sit next to me waiting for me to catch and clean my fish.
  • The videos you produce are far superior to any others I’ve seen doing travel videos. So you may spend more time doing them than many others, but yours show that. Look forward to all your videos. Nice to see you have a companion to travel with you. Emi is looking ore comfortable with every video. Safe travels ❤

It’s gonna be in the 90’s and humid again here in north central Pennsylvania. That snow looks so inviting.

Wow. I spent my elementary years growing up in Stewart. We left in 2002 and it was wild to see how much ice is gone from the Bear Glacier. I remember that the ice reached down into the little lake.
