  • If you repeat a lie often enough it will eventually become Israel.
  • @rastaoiiii
No Eurovision. No UEFA. No Euro basketball. No Oscars. No Golden Globes. No Olympics. No more of my🇺🇸 taxes.

What about the LPC journalist that got sacked for asking legitimate questions...This is making a mockery of you James
  • Bring back Sangita give her back her say.Israel is a bully who is bombing an concentration camp, which they manufactured out of existence.Give Sangita her job back.If you're not allowed to speak your mind without fear of Israeli interference (where are you JAMES)
  • The comparison between Russia and Israel is valid. Russia didn't get kicked out of Eurovision for "invading Ukraine", they got kicked out for breaking international law and causing untold humanitarian harm, things Israel is also doing. Different laws (although often not) and different humanitarian harms (again, often not), same core problem - violating international law and causing harm to the world. Rejecting it out of pocket and implying that anyone who suggest it is an idiot who should be in "idiots corner" is ironically, a bit of a stunned opinion.
  • Forget the politics, is Israel in Europe? The answer is simple, Israel is not a European country!
  • They are not being held accountable anywhere else, so yes get them up there front and center on the world stage, so they can be booed off it.

I never understood how Isreal was ever considered to be part of Europe
  • In 2018 Israeli soldiers shot over 6,000 Palestinians. In many cases they were shot with illegal expanding ammunition. So, did the present iteration of this problem begin on 7th October 2023 (1,200 casualties) or March/Dec 2018 (6,000 casualties) Discus ??

Belarus was suspended indefinitely, from ever taking part, in the eurovision song contest, which came in effective in June 2021. Belarus' song was mocking anti-government protests, which faced violent government crackdown in their country, which was a clear breach of competition guidelines. Russia was banned from competing in the 2022 contest and any further contest's following the invasion of Ukraine, so yes, Israel should be banned for their brutal, barbaric, cruel, heinous, dastardly genocidal invasion on Palestine. Please, there should be categorically no double standards. One rule for Israel and a different rule for other countries. Might I also add Free Palestine as well. 🇵🇸
  • I am still struggling to understand why the European Broadcasting Union could ban Russia in 2022 after it invaded Ukraine but said that it could not ban israel for invading Gaza in 2023. What double standard and hypocrisy is that? And the cancellation of Sangita Myska on LBC. So much for the West's much vaunted rights of free speech and democracy. When it comes to Israel, different standards apply, don't they?
  • Why is Israel in “Eurovision” ? Why not Syria or Iraq? What’s the connection?
  • What about giving us all a best moment for 2024 by sayjng something about the sacking of your colleague Sangita?
  • Prior to Oct 7th amd shortly thereafter I was a life ling supporter of Israel. Never again. Israel has demonstrated such a level of inhumanity; and not just the government, but at every level of society, that I cannot anide with them any more. Netanyahus’ Epitaph will read ‘ I was the man who destroyed the state of Israel’.
  • James O'Brien doing what he always does taking the generally mainstream view and bullying anyone who disagrees with him.
  • @PlatonsArm
I don’t know what point James thought he made, but differentiating between Europe and the European Broadcasting Union is not really how you would explain why Australia or Israel participate. Could it be, perchance, that Australia and Israel are both European colonialist states?

As the EBU set a precedent by banning Russia 2 years ago, no. Absolutely not. However, if next year Russia are invited to compete again, no countries should be banned again for political reasons. Unfortunately, it's only "united by music" when the EBU chooses to employ double standards. Probably worth mentioning the UK was never banned for our illegal invasion of Iraq.
