In Brussels, a flag-raising ceremony formally marks Sweden's accession to NATO. The event was held at the alliance's headquarters after Sweden officially became its 32nd member in Washington. That's two years after the Nordic country applied to join the military alliance following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Putin: I forbid Finland and Sweden from joining NATO! (Putin invades Ukraine --> Finland and Sweden join NATO) Putin: I love it when a plan comes together!

From Denmark to our Swedish brothers and sisters - a warm welcome to NATO. It is in many ways a dream come true. All the Nordic countries: Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark are in the same defense alliance. To the Danish parliament and government. Increase the defense budget to 4 - 5% of GDP, reintroduce conscription for women and men, increase civil defense and buy primarily Nordic / European weapons. MEGA: Make Europe Great again

Proud to welcome our northern brothers to NATO. Divided we are small, but together we are a force to be reckoned with.

And the "NATO Salesman of the Year" award goes to.... Vladimir Putin! Mr. Putin, who won the coveted award also last year by ushering Finland into NATO says he's "humbled by the honour". However, Mr. Putin's close associate Sergei Liarov will be accepting the award on his behalf, quoting "legal issues" that restrict Mr. Putin's travelling abroad.

"What Sweden's membership means for NATO and Russia..."? For a start, it means that the Baltic Sea is now a NATO lake, and Russia's Baltic Fleet is a very expensive, easily blockaded, and likely short-lived, waste of metal, manpower and weapons. Sweden brings very advanced submarine technology, advanced aircraft, as well as very versatile anti-aircraft missile systems.

32 nations feel strong,y enough about the threat from Russia to be part of NATO. Russia can only gain allies with tanks and guns. Countries are forced to join Russia. Countries apply to join NATO.
