Hello my dear friends,
I am happy to present you a new restoration story. Our guest in this story is an artist case.
1840s August Schutzmann.
I really loved this case and decided to give my best effort. I did a lot of wood and metal work.
This artist case, which was very damaged before the work, was in a very good condition at the end of the work. As always, I caught a silky touch in both wood and metal. I have reused all original parts as much as possible, even screws and nails included.

As you know I am a woodworker too and tool maker and also restorator. Deeply in love with fine woodworking. This work was a pleasure for me and wanted to share with you.
As a full-time craftsman , I told you the story the way I lived it. So this is not just a restoration video, few days of a craftsman.
I hope you like our story.

Don't forget to like and subscribe if you like it. I would be glad.
I greet you all sincerely.

  • As an artist, it gives me a lot of joy to see old supplies being restored. I wish artist’s cases were as well-made and beautiful today.

I usually always fall asleep watching videos on Youtube about restoration....because they are so wonderfully relaxing....and even though I am a Scotsman (living in Scotland), I don't like Whiskey. Actually.... I am a Scotsman who doesn't drink at all.....because I never liked the taste

Your work was great, for me therapeutic. I watched this after a day in which everything I touched fell apart or broke. I'll renew my efforts tomorrow. Thank you for the reset. Narragansett Bay.
  • This was something I never had, they nowadays make these things out of viynl plastic. There's hundreds upon thousands of artists tools to choose from. 🎨 💯 😍 ♥️ 😳 ❤️ 😢 💯

    Totally hypnotized, fascinated...in an AWE

Another stunning piece of work. Anyone watching your restorations will surely be at least tempted to go out to their shed and find a little something to clean, rub down, polish... Later. It's 4am and i have another Old Hand video to watch. Thank you.
  • I've watched a lot of restoration videos but few have come even close to this. Repairing the plywood instead of just replacing it, cleaning up the old nails...this is a level of detail and care that shows enthusiasm and love for your work. Off to brows the rest of your videos.

I'm beginning to understand the most important facet of a restoration is deciding which piece to give the most attention. You do it well my friend. Aloha 🤙

And that folks is how it should be done 👍 Top job, turned out incredible.

Exquisitely beautiful workmanship. I can’t believe you popped out the catches and nails without losing one nail. The end result is beyond belief. So smooth.
  • Wonderful job. Now it will live yet another lifetime. Maybe longer than it’s previous one! A young carpenter of the present, would be astounded that these tools you use were actually the mainstay of carpenters of old! Just goes to show you, we are not the first clever people to invent things. The computer is good for information but the old tools DID things, and very well too! Keep at it, sir. We love to war how you bring things back to life.❤️🦘

Watching this I was thinking how this case was cherished and well used once. Not a cheap case either. The grain in that was beautiful. I think whoever it was owned by would be very happy to see it restored by someone that appreciates the ways those items were made. I also enjoyed watching you use tools my father had like the hand drill and the manual buffer. It brought me some good memories. Thank you for putting so much thought in your restorations.
